I really don’t think this warrants an entry at all. There are covers and parodies of every popular song. At least “Blurred Lines” was controversial. There’s nothing special about this song memetically (except for a few captions like the ones shown, but that’s stretching it). If we’re keeping this entry though, it should be changed from an Event to a Meme like “Blurred Lines” and “We Are Young” (another song I don’t think warrants an entry).

That kind of criteria is a bit too arbitrary. I wouldn’t mind if even more entries about popular songs were submitted if they were as well written and researched as this one. I agree that once a song reaches a certain level of popularity that it is likely to have numerous remixes/parodies, but I don’t understand why that means it should be excluded from the database.

It just seems redundant. If anything, we should just have a “We’ll Never Be Royals” entry for the image macros. That’s the only memetic thing about this. After all, the “Popped a Molly, I’m Sweatin” entry isn’t “All Gold Everything”, nor should it be. There are parodies of that song, but they aren’t as culturally relevant (I know it’s subjective) or abundant as parodies, covers, and macros of “Blurred Lines” and “Somebody That I Used to Know” (both warranted entries). Songs shouldn’t be excluded because they have a lot of parodies, but they shouldn’t be allowed just because there are parodies. I won’t mind if this entry stays up, but this is just my opinion. I don’t want to argue about it.
