The answer to your question about the nature of time depends on what you mean by “exists physically”. If we are to believe Einsteinian physics (and I know of no reason not to), then time is of the same essence that space is. But then, can you really say that space “exists” or is it more of an abstract concept within which existence is defined?

I really think you’re asking a metaphysical question, and I’m not sure whether you mean to do so. Within the realm of science, the answer is a definite “yes”, because time is just as measurable as length. In a more philosophical view…? It all depends. Is reality basically objective and conforming to physical laws? Is reality chaotic, whimsical, and unpredictable? Are we all the dream of Brahman, and therefore the question is unanswerable? (Okay, stopping now. If you actually find this sort of rambling interesting, I’ve got plenty more where that came from.)
