He’s living the dream: Wealth, sex, fame. Of course people will pay attention to him – it doesn’t even matter how big a douchebag he is (or isn’t, I wouldn’t know) or what he does (or doesn’t do) with his money.

I guess, really, what I’m wondering is why it is that for so many people “the dream” amounts to such a wasteful, self-centered existence.

I mean, if I woke up one day and realized that I’d burnt through $50 million in windfall without having helped anyone, or done anything to improve the world, I’d feel like utter garbage afterwards. Is this guy’s life seriously what people aspire to? I mean, I can get wanting the money, but if I had it I would almost certainly spend it differently.

And who the hell throws a naked porn star off the roof? That’s just tacky.

Agreed, definitely. Still, it makes me feel better to imagine that for every person who wants to be this guy, there’s at least one who thinks differently. For each shallow, selfish wannabe, there’s at least one person who would invest in mental health initiatives or alternative energy research or…hell, just feeding the hungry and treating the sick. (relevant: This Zen Pencils comic, if you’re into that sort of thing)

And yeah, the naked porn star incident was really lacking in class.

Out of everything then it’s exactly like that “if I woke up one day and realized that I’d burnt through $50 million in windfall without having helped anyone, or done anything to improve the world, I’d feel like utter garbage” it’s a different mind with different ideas. Not everyone is the same, clearly, though please do not misunderstand, I couldn’t care less about this guy nor do I like him, however it’s just that I don’t understand how “donating” money could be even called an achievement or a requirement for wealthy people. You’re not obliged to squander nor keep it, and at the same time you’re not obliged to help anyone or hurt someone. That’s just how it is, his fame now is just testament of people not caring. Even then if I had that kind of money I would just be more hellbent on keeping it stable and try to make more, I wouldn’t use it to help people because I am selfish and I have different objectives, but I don’t expect other people to be generous to me or to anyone else.
