Essentially, the problem is that almost every other ad for skirts by everybody else avoids taking obvious panty shots.

And most try to show more than just a disembodied ass. We don’t get examples of how this skirt will go well with an outfit. The only aspect of the skirt they are advertising in the pics is “Ass”.

I get that, but it’s the old thing of “sex sells”.

I personally think it’s a useful add for parents. It shows how revealing it is, how short it is, and how easy it is to flash your panties at somebody. It’s unlikely that all girls (assuming the girl is 16 or something in the picture) wear underwear such as that, thus knowing your child wears thongs or g-strings or whatever, knowing how short it is, will allow you to go “No” or “Yes” or whatever.

I see the problem, but the woman was saying this encourages “Lolita Fantasy” or something. Which it doesn’t. Unless she has several respected peer reviewed papers on the matter that cover a substantially large census.

As in, she’s seeing anger here when it’s nothing more than the age old “sex sells”. Plus, as I said in my reply to Ganondox, it’s actually pretty useful for parents seeing how revealing it is. I doubt most parents, when their teenage daughter wears a short skirt, is constantly trying to see a flash.

Sex doesn’t really sell though. Unless you are selling sex, at least.

Do you know the catchphrase “That’s a Spicy Meatball!” with that thick Italian accent? It is from a commercial for some sauce, right?

Nope. It is for heartburn medicine. But the catchphrase overtook the rest of the commercial, and the original message was lost to the general public. And that is the problem with ‘sex sells’. People get too distracted by the sexy to actually remember the product. I mean, can you actually remember what the skirt in question looks like? What color is it? Does it have a pattern?

No, you only remember the revealed panties. And the controversy over the panties. And I doubt any of us could recognize that skirt if we passed by it 100 times in the store.
