It’s really not ponies they hate it’s bronies. When it first started on 4chan (look at some of the first pics, although they are no longer in order since mods cleaned it up) it was used to troll. Then once it really started to catch on they started calling themselves /b/ronies and started to really get into the show itself. That was when Anons started to say dude that’s gay. It’s kinda like the Trekkies. Some people are just way to into it. After all this is My Little Pony and the prior show and merchandise were pretty gay.
