One of the films had exactly that. I can’t remember the title but it was the one where a huge alien vessel started wrecking Earth because it could not find genuine whale call on it. Problem is all the whales were extinct

So the crew of the Enterprise boarded a Romulan vessel and slingshot it around the sun in warp 6.

That somehow sent them back to 1989 so they could find a pair of humpback whales and bring them back to the future.

Good Lord, I forgot how awesome Trek is.
