I’ve actually put a lot of thought into which of the mane six is “best pony”. I’ve concluded that choosing any one pony over the others both shows a critical character flaw in the chooser and possibly a Freudian insecurity. Because the characters are all flawed, and choosing one pony means choosing that ponies flaws over the flaws of the other ponies, you inadvertently show on a subconscious level which character flaws you find most acceptable. This holding true not just for cartoon ponies, but for humanity as a whole. Also, because one is more likely to find one’s own flaws more acceptable than the flaws of others (an agoraphobic rarely sees their phobia as a flaw, to them it makes perfect sense) this is a beautifully clear view into the subject’s true persona.
