Yeah, I’m somewhat of a perfectionist and I’m extremely OCD about most things. Even when posting here, I often go back to change a few words just so it sounds better, or fix a word being on a single line by itself, which aggravates me to no end. I’m also deathly afraid of failure, and I usually avoid doing things I don’t get a second chance on if I have a say in it. Maybe that’s what’s been holding me back all these years. Myself.
You seem to be very knowledgeable about the whole Spanish language situation in the Western Hemisphere, more so than the reference book writers themselves. If you pursued the career further, you would have a good case to do a in-depth study and research project on the different dialects, how they affect social status, how they are perceived, etc., all at your university’s expense. It would make for an interesting read. At least for people who actually enjoy this kind of stuff, like me.
