From the “Horse” page on Wikipedia:
“The horse (Equus ferus caballus) is one of two extant subspecies of Equus ferus, or the wild horse.
From the “Pony” page on Wikipedia:
“A pony is a small horse (Equus ferus caballus).”
I rest my case. Also, “miniature horse” has its own page because that term is typically used to refer to horses around the size of a large dog, many of which share similar genatic makeup with normal horses, whereas ponies somewhat vary in size but partially share a somewhat distinct code.
