Sold out because its popular? Or sold out because of limited supply and limited demand?

The Wii sold out because it was very popular amongst non-gamers and modern families and Nintendo couldn’t keep up supplies. The demand out weighed the supply.

But how many units did they have to start with? To my knowledge many of those backers who were promised units before the proper release still didn’t get them.

So just because the gamestop, amazing and Best Buy’s stock are sold out doesn’t mean much. My local gamestop didn’t get any OUYA’s because nobody around here probably cares, and I’m sure that’s the same story across the country.

So saying they sold doesn’t mean much unless we know many units were created and shipped out.
If 300 Units were made and then sold. That’s a pretty good sign.
If lets say only 50 were made and shipped that’s not that impressive.
