I don't think I need to explain the difference again between allowed R34 and pornographic content.

From this point I will start reporting again when the content crosses the boarder and gets too explicit. I and other mods will decide that border when we come across the said content, don't try and argue.

Why is there this? Why does it exist?

It may be a similar reason as to why I like sad and creepy FiM stuff: Making a cheerful, bright show turn dark or depressing evokes a lot more of the fear emotion (albeit still a small amount) for me. It's also connected to characters that I already know and am attached to, so it adds that element of really caring for the characters if something bad happens to them.
 
 
However, I don't get the battle pony thing. Characters go crazy in the show and become depressed, in fairly creepy ways. But they never truly war like we war. It seems like a big jump to make.

To those who like that in pony art or fanfiction, why do you like battle ponies? I don't get it, but I'd like to understand if you can explain it.

And why the crap do people want ponies to be bipedal, man?!

There was a thread.

This is straight from the first post of the thread from Tomberry (another database mod):

• Concerning links and hyperlinks. As you must have noticed, we don’t strictly forbid links to chans archives or places where porn/NSFW ads can exist. But, we greatly invite you to, at least, add a warning before the said link, in order to indicate what can be NSFW or not.

This implies that he thinks it's ok to post links as long as they weren't embedded and as long as the links gave plenty of warning as to where they were leading. The difference may be that the linked porn was strictly images (I didn't click them, so I can't say if they were sites or images only.)

Then DPF gave this as a response to Connor asking more specifically about links in forums:

• I think that should be fine Connor, as long as you give a major warning next to the link. Like NSFW, porn site or something along those lines. As long as you don’t post the images on the site.
  And MDF, some articles link to pornographic sites, like the Rule 63 page.

Now, DPF is only a Entry Mod, but Tomberry didn't object, and again, he implied that it was OK on the forums with a proper warning.
 
 
So to sum:

1. We have had database moderator approval to post it from before. I don't think any of it was embedded, so I think that's why the users posting them felt as if they could.
2. I'm pretty sure there are some differences in understandings among the mods on the issue. I figure we'll go with your suggestion (Pimp Abra) until there's more clarification, but over the past month, we've gotten mixed signals on the issue from equally powerful moderators.

Could you add that to that thread, Pimp Abra? People in the future may refer to it and think they aren't breaking the first rule of the forums as long as it's in a link with a warning when they actually aren't supposed to.

Anywho, the fact that I know it exists (by virtue of me posting an example of it) doesn't mean I necessarily understand it (Karnage.)

But thanks for a straight answer, Ric. I don't get the appeal of doing something because it's not expected (assuming you're going with a loose definition of irony as opposed to doing something for one reason and it actually having the opposite effect,) but I don't have to. I just wanted to know a reason.

I also place a low value on epic stuff like Master Chief or the honor of battle. I'd just rather chill out and watch birds fly by (as seen from my birthday request post,) but I think that's another thing I don't value. So it never occurred to me that turning ponies into war-like creatures as a desirable thing.

You've missed my point Ivan. Entirely, I'm afraid.

For one, I simply explained why people might have felt as if they could post R34. I never said anything about how I felt about it or whether I thought it was right or wrong. The post was a matter of KYM's policy of pornographic material and how it users got mixed signals as to what they could do.

Second, if you've read any of my posts on the matter, you would know that I don't like R34 of Pony. I tolerate it for humanizations, and it offends me for Pony sex, but I don't indulge in either.

And, at the core of the matter, you're suggesting that we take your values and apply them to our own. That is dangerous grounds upon which to tread. My stance on porn of any sort is being honest with yourself and recognizing if you have a problem that will affect yourself or other people. I think it's more than just a little weird to like the porn of FiM, but I want to have a darn good reason before I alienate a person and make them feel like less of a person because they do like it, especially when they don't really want to.

I guess it never occurred to me that violence is a desirable trait. I could see sex as being desirable, but I guess some people are really just violent people. However, I guess that would be me being a little naïve considering how popular games like Gears of Wars or Modern Warfare.

Which is a little embarrassing for me, in hindsight, but sometimes I need people to point that out for me to get it.
