How does it feel to be a country that discovered so much new land but kept so little of it? :(

Do you think that left-handed people are more anything than right-handed people? (like more artistic, more intelligent, more evil?)

How long will you give a well-written but unconfirmed but not yet deadpooled entry before you go and deadpool it yourself? I think I heard most mods can’t confirm entries, only deadpool ’em.

- It only makes sense. As I am of course the most popular mod here. #giantego
But my AMA went up first, so I guess that’s why. But it’s awesome nonetheless.

- More anything? Us lefties are more EVERYTHING!

- A really well-written article doesn’t get deadpooled quickly, unless it’s of something that doesn’t work out as a meme or simply isn’t a meme, or in case of a merge. As for confirming, mods can do that. But we have to discuss it with the staff first and therefore usually just let the staff do it.

What do you think about all the assholes who automatically downvote anything pony related?
Just recently I got a down vote for posting an anime / pony pic on Mellow’s AMA thread. Shit like that makes no sense to me but whatever.

It’s exactly the type of overexaggerate I mentioned in a previous answer. When a brony starts posting ponies pure for the sake of annoying other users or really spams them, I understand. But downvoting for just 1 image is a little harsh. We might as well call the posting of 1 Pokemon image spam in that case. That we have a forum for bronies is a bad excuse in that case, since it’s an unwritten rule that bronies can only post there. Bronies are still allowed to post ponies outside that thread, but they are nice enough to keep it at a very low pace. Unfortunately this isn’t always appreciated.

As for the people who jump in to the Pony General just to downvote all posters, that’s just sad. I can start to describe it, but it’s just not worth my time.

It sucks, but in the end every country lost everything. We just need to remember the Dutch Golden Age. I just wish New York was still called New Amsterdam. That would rule.

Continuing with my earlier line of questioning, would you say Zwarte Piet is the European version of Al Jolson?

No. A Zwarte Piet climbs over rooftops and hits children in the face with pepernoten, Al Jolson sings.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with bumping a featured thread with an on-topic post. It’s featured to keep it from locking, and it’s an AMA for a moderator of a meme site (a rather detailed one that does great research, but a meme site nonetheless.)

But while I’m here, if you could do an internship in New York for Know Your Meme (and you had a (barely) living stipend,) would you take it?

Angel was was my first avatar, and I didn’t really care about what my avatar would represent, so I just went with him. But although my avatar didn’t evolve in my first months, my reputation did. Over time I gained a reputation as “the bunny”, when I became a mod this evolved to the “bunny mod”. Both were due to my avatar. Although I didn’t really care, others had their fun with it, so I decided to stick with it, and here we are now.

My current avatar was drawn by our quality artist Muumi.

Bob wrote:

Meh. I don’t mind answering questions, and this thread is here for that purpose exactly. Although it isn’t active in the period we intended this thread to be active (mod week), it shouldn’t matter as it still is being used for what it was started. On topic bumps, although annoying at times, are of course ok.

I love meat (not that type you pervert), so the right type can go in (not through there you pervert) any time. Most favorite are most likely various types of beef steak.

Yes, undoubtly I would. It would be a great experience to follow an internship in the KYM office. I love internet culture, and researching it in a professional (like I can say that with a straight face) area with the current staff sounds awesome.

I possibly have the money necessary to spend on plane tickets to stay multiple weeks in NYC. But then I still need a place to stay. And knowing Cheez, the internship would most likely not be paid, so I will probably need a second part time job alongside the KYM internship. It will be a huge blow to my savings unless I find solutions.

One can dream.

Quantum Meme wrote:

It’s an on topic bump, and I don’t mind answering questions. Why this requires the current state of his karma remains a question, but people are of course entitled to how they use their karma, so meh. People fix his karma as he gets downvotes, so not much damage is done.

Users should be able to understand why they were downvoted, and hopefully learn from it and possibly change their future posting habbits alongside it. Many call karma useless, but the fact that people actually care when they get negative shows it has its uses. Why care for something useless? If you don’t want it, discover for what you get it, and then work to fix that. It’s a learning factor, but this of course requires some effort from the downvoters as well, people can’t fix on something when they don’t know what exactly they did wrong.

Can we do a karaoke night thread? If so, I can see it now…

You as the owner, serving drinks and shooting people with a shotgun if they’re booed off the stage.
I’d probably be your first victim, but I’d die happily!

Do you mean like those “post the next line of this song” threads? Because I can guarantee you it will fail. Around post 3-5 people will start posting the lyrics for Bohemian Rhapsody or Never Gonna Give You Up, and then we possibly have to lock it for not going anywhere.

If you are planning a sort of singing thread through mic/webcam, would certainly be original.

Either way, shotguns will be involved.

No, like a guess the song by the lyrics typed kind deal, where the wrong lyrics or guess gives you a shell full of double aught. Shotgun = shot and kicked out of bar (thread). If we live, we hand the mike to the next potential target…

And wait for them to screw up… until one remains, where you finally share a drink with the winner.
Oh, and there’s a time limit to when the guess must be made, otherwise, one random person from the audience is shot and dragged out of the bar.

But you’re idea seems much more plausible! As long as shotguns are involved.

Depends on the type of business and employees of course, but it has its pros and cons. I wouldn’t directly trust low class with the responsibility of owning a business, simply because they do not have the necessary requirments to run one.

In the overall area, as I said, pros and cons. Having greedy bosses has been the downfall of many companies. When a company has money issues, yet all the top dogs have the most expensive cars to drive in, then you just know the problem lies with them. In a bigger area (the business being the property of everyone), this can result in more greed and a quicker downfall, but also makes it harder for the higher ups to fuck it up. It’ll be easier to discover flaws, but also to reach disagreements.

To say I have a most favorite meme of all time, no. I’m a fan of mostly random memes that you can’t see coming. Things like the Doomba or the Lyra Plush. Taping weapons on a vacuum cleaner, turning a fuckable plush into all types of objects except a fuckable plush. Other memes like this I love as well, such as Gary Oak and Shrek, two normal characters turned into a motherfucker and a sexual deviant by the internet. Those are the type of memes nobody could predict, yet the content they delivered contains great quality and gave me numerous good laughs.

Then again, I also greatly enjoyed slam remixes, and Yaranaika is still a quality exploitable. So there are exeptions, but I’m mostly a fan of the random memes that can’t be explained.

Dude, you’re hitting one of my hot buttons. That’s called socialism, not Communism. I don’t want to derail the thread, so let me just say that

  • communism,
  • socialism,
  • Marxism, and even
  • Communism (with a capital C)

all mean different things. Please look them up in a dictionary, people.

@Brucker the memetic wizard
I don’t want to derail this thread, either, but 99% of the time, a communist state will be socialist, so even though they’re different things, it’s not really that weird to use socialism to describe communism. All communist countries will (probably) be socialist, even if a socialist country might not be communist.

On-topic:
Isn’t it kind of weird that the favorite memes of a mod of a meme research site are memes that can’t be explained?
