From your previous answer, are you referring to the sociological concept of "other" (in terms of group processes, specifically the theoretical mechanisms by which a person of the in-group cannot properly incorporate the understandings and values of the hypothetical "other,") or are you referring to the basic, less structured sense in simply not being able to understand another's point of view because the person at hand does not have the consciousness of the other/"is" not the other? (Hoping for the former. Please be the former.)
