The Extra Credits guys made a video of a bunch of content creators saying that they will not go to or cover E3 so long as the ESA (which makes most of its money from E3) continues to support SOPA.

Also, has KYM disabled image uploading as part of the blackout? I keep getting an error 404.

This seems to be the case.

Also, joining google, wired.com is now “blacked out.” With the internetz all backed out I will now do the only thing I have left to do…dance

We stand now on the precipice of darkness.

Should these Orwellian laws pass, the Internet as we know it will be destroyed.

We know what must be done.

Stand together now, as one! Throw aside our differences, join hands, and march in step, showing our solidarity!

Show them that we will not be silenced, that we will be heard! Show them how their ideas will hurt all who use the INTERNET!

WE WILL STAND! WE WILL FIGHT! WE WILL HOLD THE LINE!

A response from the RIAA

Well played. Or it would be if he didn’t misspell the word “blackout.”

If anyone’s interested you can still visit Wikipedia, and little known to all the people that already found ways around the blackout Wikipedia actually tells us how to get around it and says that it’s okay:
“Our purpose here isn’t to make it completely impossible for people to read Wikipedia, and it’s okay for you to circumvent the blackout. We just want to make sure you see our message.”
With more detailed instructions linking to meta Wikimedia(the Wiki where all Wikis in the WMF are discussed) here: the easiest way being to add ?banner=none to the end of page URLs.

I dislike how they are allowing people to access the Website when they vouched to black it out, it would be far more annoying, and effective that way.

A lot of kids at school had never even heard of SOPA, and I used it as an excuse to explain it to them, and even got a few to email our reps (though, I don’t really expect much out of Thornberry at this point…)

The blackout has received coverage in The New York Times, and it’s mostly laudatory: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/19/technology/web-protests-piracy-bill-and-2-key-senators-change-course.html?_r=1&hp

One thing that bothers me is I was on YT (big surprise there) and I happened to come upon a comment from a guy who thought SOPA was really great. Saying that SOPA was just to stop pedophiles and CP.

He also said that he checked Wikipedia, and other sites about SOPA and the Internet. He was very off without a doubt, but it still bothers me that he thought it was only against pedos.

I don’t really think it makes a big difference, I mean we all hate SOPA.

SOPA isn’t dead. Its voting was suspended indefinitely until a compromise was found. But, who knows what could come out of that. SOPA was the compromise of COICA after all.

Is it possible to laugh and cry at the same time?

Is it possible to vaporize people through your computer monitor?
