EDIT: Holy crap.
I was cringing while reading the ‘how it works’ section…
Since launching, this site sparked up some discussion as to how it all works. Ofcourse [sic], we don’t want to disclose too much of the ‘algorithm’ (it’s not all that high-tech) of the site. However.. (note the lack of the third ellipsis) basically it searches based on associative (english!) [sic] (because only English-speakers matter!) sentences (So far, if I were your English teacher, you’d be failing). The given searchterm [sic] is used in these sentences which are then sent off to the search engine, counting the amount of results returned. (Sentences are double quoted before they are sent off, so as to make sure the search-enginges [sic] search for occurances [sic] of the whole sentence).
This, ofcourse [sic], produces questionable results which – considering the varying results per day/hour – should not be taken very seriously. However, the more results returned, the more reliable these results can become. Do a search for George Bush and then Barack Obama, and you’ll see that the internet is certainly not far off – or perhaps even in-sync – with the result you had in mind.
Doubtful? My advice: (why would you use a semicolon there?) sum up 10 ‘obvious’ searches, of which you are almost certain of the results (like ‘beer’, ‘sex’, ‘sleeping’, etc.) and then enter 10 less obvious searches into the search field. If the first 10 convince you of accurate results, the second 10 will perhaps be not as random as you thought! (Solid logic is solid!)
I… I think I’m becoming more of a grammar Nazi…

“The internet is currently positive about your mother.”
“The internet is currently negative about inception.”
“The internet is currently positive about my little pony, but only just.”

For some reason, occasionally the thing will switch the numbers by mistake. For example, “sopa” and “my little pony” had their positive and negative numbers switch occasionally when I searched it again.
Speaking of SOPA, it says it’s positive, which is clearly bullshit.
Also, it seems to love saying “You’re doing it wrong. Please enter a valid search term (english)” for no reason.

Sadly, this means you can’t search the look of disapproval.

Who knows? I doubt Britain gives a good power to that result.
But hey, we do complain about America and that is going to happen, I’m sorry. :)
Also, AppleJack is positive?

I’m still just getting Unsafe Connection warnings, which I think has something to do with this squirrelmail nonsense. If anyone wants to keep tabs on the site to see if things get fixed, please keep us posted… it was a fun site.
