Finally: What if the Avatar world is actually our world, and it got like it is now because Amon wins, takes Korra’s bending, and seals the spirit world off forever.

There’s implied death. Lots of it, too.

Well, besides POWs, Genocide, jet dying, fire lord’s “cult of personality”, etc. You’re right, it was down right childish. /sarcasm

Yeah, okay.

This is a kids’ show. It airs on Nickelodeon, for God’s sake.

You want people to die? Fine. Go write a fanfic or something.

You know what would be cool? If Amon figured out how to take away someone’s bending permanently by just jabbing them in the forehead (or something similar), so he could kill bending on the fly or in battle instead of having to take it away when the target isn’t struggling, or is unable to fight back. Even though the executioner-style tactic is intimidating, this would be much more practical.

Of course, then comes the debate about whether or not he’s actually taking bending away, or just giving the illusion of doing so. One could reasonably imagine that the whole execution-style setup of taking bending away is intimidating for a reason, so as to trick the bender into thinking their bending is gone.

But I guess we’ll just have to wait for things to progress before we get a definitive answer on the subject.

Don’t speak such things.
Also, Lin is now my favorite character. Anyone else?

Well, then he’d just be an unstoppable weapon, the Iron Man of the Avatar universe.

Not very climactic, if I do say so myself.

Here’s what I think would be neat.

Remember how when Aang fought Ozai there was that danger that he could have the technique rebound back on him if Ozai’s spirit was too strong? Well, what if, before the final battle, Korra undergoes some serious spiritual training and has some kind of epiphany. Then she fights Amon and loses. But when he tries to take her bending away she overwhelms his spirit and takes away HIS ability to energy bend. Then, while everyone is stunned, she breaks away and takes them all down single-handed.

Also, Lin should take over Sokka’s role as the non-bender who is a good enough fighter to contribute to a bending fight. I want to see her get really pissed off and tear some chi-blockers apart with her bare hands.

“Oh no – you blocked my energy flow with your pressure-point attacks. What will I ever do now – LIN SMASH!”

@Platus
Yeah, the whole spirit-battle concept is cool, kinda’ glad they got rid of the wax figure fight, looked awkwadly bizarre. But I’m totally with you on Lin being the melee fighter of the team. She seems strong enough, plus she’d be even more Batman-y.
On to a new topic, I’m placing my bet for the final fight of the season to be classic Avatar, by which I mean the good guys lose and must retreat to fight another day. That’s already happening, too, so…Unless Korra gets a handy deus ex machina Avatar state and wipes out Amon once and for all.

Picture this.

When Lin destroyed the blimps, she chose to destroy Amon’s blimp first and went down with it. Everyone on board dies, including Amon and Lin. By doing this, Lin has stopped Amon by sacrificing herself.

Lin would be both a hero and an hero.

But the commercials for the Season Finale imply that Amon has to be alive at least until the end of the season.

It wasn’t a theory. It was a “what if” scenario. And you didn’t even get the joke.

Finally, I have given in and gone to the KYM forums.
Anyways, I was watching Korra with my boyfriend the other day and he’s the type to make crazy theories so he made two about Amon:
1.) “What if Amon was a bender?” this is more something that would be a pretty funny random plot twist.
but then I was mentioning that I wanted to know exactly how Amon got the power to take away bending because it has been implied that until that point only the Avatar could have that ability, and Amon claimed that spirits spoke to him, which is also something that (except for possibly a few exceptions) only the Avatar could do. So my boyfriend said “What if Amon was originally supposed to be the Avatar, until the spirits decided he was not worthy and made Korra the new Avatar?”. It would blow my mind if the show were to throw in a twist like that.

Yeah, I read about an idea like that. Amon was going to be the new Avatar, but something happened and Korra was chosen instead, thus giving the spiritual side of being the Avatar to Amon and the physical/bending part to Korra. Only that theory is a bit weaker now that Korra was able to spiritually contact Aang, if only a little.

I finally got around to watching the last episode and overall I liked it!

But there’s one thing that has been bothering me for a while and a new thing that has been bothering me:

Tenzin’s Children….their voice actors suck. All their line deliveries are flat. Now I understand they have actual children play these roles but with the quality of child actors nowadays, this is inexcusable. Even other children like that street rat they got info from in…Episode 3 was it? He sounded like shit too. If you can’t get good child actors, then there are plenty of good adult voice actors that can voice children.

Second, Iroh’s voice just doesn’t work….I know they wanted to get Dante Basco as a throwback to Zuko and all but…he sounds too much like Zuko…and Zuko was a teenager, Iroh is a fully grown man and a general to boot but sounds like a teenage boy. Maybe I’ll warm up to the voice once I hear him say more lines….but we’ll see.

To be fair, Dante Basco was a teen when he was in the movie “hook”, so he is grown man.

I never thought any of the kids in this show had bad voice acting… and I actually pay attention to shit like this. I’ve heard a lot of badly voiced kids, and the kids in this show are not on that list.

Difference of opinion, though. I will agree that while i think its cool Dante is voicing the new Iroh, I wish he didn’t sound exactly like Zuko. That might get to me

1, a.k.a. in respect to Tenzin’s children: I’m not inclined to agree, but simply because believability means that children have to be flat a bit naturally. Children aren’t at the same level of emotional depth as adults, so they can’t be portrayed as such.

2, a.k.a. Iroh: THANK YOU. I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way.
