I’m pretty sure you guys heard about the rumors that Hasbro will be catering to the bronies by giving a few more of the background characters voices and roles and whatnot. I just want to say this is what I like about Avatar, it’s entertaining in its own way. It doesn’t have to follow the whims of it’s fans to be interesting.

I know what you mean. Mlp doesn’t have story arcs, menacing bad guys, deep plots, or anything like that because it is first and foremost for little girls. I give hasbro credit for keeping it interesting for us older fans though.

I totally see what you mean, but I don’t think MLP needs to cater us to be entertaining. We all started watching the show for a reason, and I think of the fandom nods as more of a cherry on top of the friendship cake.

Something tells me your opinion is a little biased. Im sure if you would just watch the show from its earlier seasons you would realize that It can be entertaining without gimmicks and fan nods. Although no ones forcing you. You can just, you know, do whatever, but i would appreciate it if more people would evaluate the shows quality by watching an episode or two before passing judgement.

Im not criticizing it, I’m just saying that it can’t do certain things due to its intended demographic, but hasbro makes up for that.

I’ve been a brony (or just mlp fan ‘cause I don’t like shipping or clopping plus Avatar is still the best show out there imo) ever since the pilot. I’d tell you all about how I became a brony, but I’m afraid this is the wrong thread to talk about that.

BLAAAH. It was basically Tenzin’s nerdy daughter asking Katara what happened to Zuko’s Mom (a common fan question) and Katara begins to explain before being cut off by Tenzin’s other more hyper daughter. I think it was Episode 1 or 2?

Yeah, I can never remember the names of the two daughters because I find Tenzin’s Children to be one of the more bland parts of LoK. I remember Meelo just because he was the first character named after Korra, I thought he was super important back when we had no info whatsoever XD

I’m not denying they don’t. it’s true they do that a little bit here and there, but it never was the main attraction of the show. Sure, Iroh has the same VA as Zuko and that was awesome, but I would never say that or any of the other fan nods is better than the fact that Korra will be going to the spirit world in Season 2.

In MLP, fan nods are apparently what keep the show interesting for most of its fans. I remember when Derpy showed up in the episode Applejack starred in for the first time in ages. All talk about character development and animation flew out the window and stayed out for two episodes. I thought that Derpy cameo was great, but I would never say that’s all it would take to keep me watching.

Also, what’s this Wang Fire side comic series you’re talking about? How come I’ve never heard of it!?
