I'm pretty sure that Valve chose that song specifically because of the controversy over Pyro's gender.

I think Valve is either saying that this is how the Pyro perceives the world or the mask that he/she wears alters his/her perception, either way it was hilarious. I knew from the start that Valve would not revile the gender of the Pyro because they are either like to be mysterious or just like to tease us.

Since Day 3 still isn't showing up on the Pyromania update, I keep checking back in to see if there's more than the video coming out today. I saw this:

Valve's called him 'she', and the other mercs don't know his gender. I doubt even Valve knows for sure, as some devs probably have different opinions on it than others.

Anyways, I thought the video was entertaining, and I expected nothing more serious than that, all things considered. Pyro is good for being a 'joke' character, to an extent different than all of the others, who are also kind of joke characters, too.

well, remember that the final take is not an image, they are posed on Gmod, or their own 3d things, so the Engineer is in another perspective on the Pyro closeup and maybe that cause the mouth to look different

or, maybe that was intentionally to make lots of conspiracies

That was hilarious. I thought it was the most serious short up to date… until the world through Pyro's eyes.

It is a bit sad, thinking your bringing joy to babies when you're really burning men to smithereens. I have three theories on why Pyro sees this:

A) Effect of Pyromania

B) On hallucinogenics

C) He's a *sigh* Brony

But if Pyro was really a Brony then he'd see ponies 24/7. Also, unicorns are an element of colourful landscapes or 'candylands' of some sort. But meh, just my opinion.

To give a serious response:

A) Pyromania shouldn't cause delusions that bad, although some kind of severe dementia is likely

B) This is probably the most likely answer. He's as high as Mario in the mushroom kingdom

C) One balloon shaped unicorn doesn't really mean anything

Also I'm going to add a 4th theory:

D) Special virtual reality goggles. Valve is already going to introduce "Pyrovision" goggles, implying that such a delusion of the world is technologically influenced. It could be that the Pyro's mask already has such a device built-in

People can be stupid at times. No, rainbows and unicorns =/= brony.
In fact, the acid-trippy candyland world he lives in could be anything.
1. A defense mechanism so he doesn’t have to see the horrors he does
2. Drug use (Its the 60s, I wouldn’t put it past him)
3. He just likes to see the world better than what it really is
4. He’s fucking insane
Option 4 is the most likely one.
Overall, I enjoyed this one.
I like how every single class is completely terrified of him. The Heavy fought the Scout in MTScout, the Soldier wasn’t scared of the Spy in MTSpy, but this time, they all just ran for it as soon as he stepped on to the battlefield.
That is the kind of fear and power the Pyro projects.
Not to mention he bludgeoned the Heavy to death with an ax, locked the Medic in a barn and burned it down, made a gaping hole in the Soldier's chest, and left the entire battlefield a burning, charred wreck.
This is probably the most badass Meet the Team short I’ve seen. Valve did a good job on this one.
