KYM Pony General VI: Return of the Poni

I limp in this new and unknown hell, but I hear a female voice. “Chowzburgerz” she cried, “it’s you. Find the light.” I continue walking when suddenly three changeling demons appear. I try to activate my alicorn form, but nothing is happening until I realize that my amulet was gone.

I want to have input because it makes me feel important even though I’m not in the song.

Actually, now that I think about it, I’m getting the idea to make an art piece for this song. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll get back to you guys.

Seeing how Stunthead didn’t want to do it…

Over here we like to talk about memes
and sometimes we’ll argue about very stupid things.
But in the end we are all still friends
who like to hang out on KYM.

[Stunthead]
Um, I don’t see anything about that in the site rules…

[Fifths]
Deadparrot needs your help.
He’s trying hard to stalk his own can.

[Random]
Would you try, just give it a chance?
You might find that you start to understand.

(Chorus)

[Stunthead]
Uh, what just happened?

[Fifths]
There’s no time to explain, but we need your help. Verbose is trying to collect plushies!

[Stunthead]
But that’s Master Parrot’s job!

Verbose really needs your help.
He has no cash to waste on fabric friends.
You have to come and solve this disaster
and reassert yourself as the true plush master!

(Chorus)

[Deadparrot]
Oh my babies, my precious babies, we’ll never be apart again!

[Fifths]
Deadparrot we need your help! Advance is trying to break the character limit!

[Deadparrot]
Yeah whatever, just give me a minute…okay.

Advance is in some trouble, we need to get there by his side.
There’s only one of us here who knows how to get his word count super duper high!

(Chorus)

[Verbose]
Ah, this situation is much preferable to the predicament that I found myself mired in previously.

[Fifths]
Verbose, the users on the image gallery are furious! They need Advance’s saucy pictures back!

[Verbose]
But I banned him two weeks ago for posting that stuff…oh fine.

Advance kindly listen before I let you get unbanned.
We have rules for a reason they aren’t just lines drawn in the sand.
So when you post your pictures please just try to keep it down.
And when you’ve got something risqué please use the Not Safe For Work tag!

[Advance]
Come on everybrony, I want to hear you clop!

[KYM]
ADVANCE!

(Chorus)

Oh, and something to go with that picture Stunthead made.

I have absolutely no fucking clue what you’re doing. Roleplaying with yourself, maybe? I just.. I don’t have the slightest idea.

@Music
Despite my enthusiasm about the finale being musical, I really don’t care much at all for music as a whole. Going to just stay off of this topic until I have an actual valid opinion.

@Unicon
It seems like the auctions are bringing in quite a bit of money. The MA Larson signed buttons each earned at least $400. Signed buttons. Other things are bringing in even more money. I think most losses will be recouped rather easily from this. Nice to see fans working together to make this embarrassments a little less… well, a little less embarrassing.

I need some pony merch. Hopefully I can nab those two sub-par plushes my younger sister has that she never plays with.

I have yet to see who cannot outsmart her.

As for recording my own part… I dunno. I prefer to keep “Stunthead” seperate from “Real life me,” but if everyone else agrees to it I will. Send me a message if you get all the other parts.
@Crimson Locks
I actually did think about writing a “True true friends” parody, but I thought that there really wouldn’t be much to change other than the names and the last verse about pinkie pie, so I chose not to.
Also, I agree that people like you, Fifths, Dan and Crazy probably deserved to be in that song more than I did due to me being “not too huge around here,” but I really just didn’t know enough about what you’re like and what you do and therefore wouldn’t have had anything to write about. There’s always the future, though.
As for making art about my song…

@ExudesAffluence
Good on you! Be sure to post it here when it’s done.

Pff, I’m not huge anywhere. And there’s not really much to know, I suppose. Though I should probably update my bio thingy someday.

Fluttershy is Best Pony, and I ain’t hearin no arguments.

I’d add something else more relevant to the discussion, but I don’t really have anything to say about music-making or Unicon at the moment. I just like to remind everyone of my favorite pony from time to time.

I will say that Fifths does know his stuff though, even if his bias against Octavia is total B.S.

I suppose I can’t lurk with Stunthead’s and Fifths’ effort out there. But I don’t have recording equipment right now. However, I do intend on getting a decent microphone for my own use (I want to do some radio stuff in my free time,) so when that comes along financially and in terms of priority, then I’ll send Fifths something.

I don’t mind putting my singing or speaking voice out there on the Internet for people to hear, but I always want to make a good appearance…showing…er, I want to sound good (e.g., Practice, making sure I’m on key, not being flat on notes as I tend to be, getting the rhythms right, etc.) If everyone is up to it, then I’ll submit my parts.

Might I ask to hold off on any new implied requests for participation in the meanwhile? I don’t mind singing, but I’d certainly be feeling pressure to participate in order to not be a spoilsport even if I did, and that pressure wouldn’t have been nearly as present had the effort not gone into a performed song (now two, it seems.) I don’t think that was Stunthead’s intent though.

… Okay… Two Things to say here.

1: Who said “The New Unicorn” to add to the Mane six to become the Mane 7 would “replace” Twilight? Twilight can stay, I’ve just been saying a New unicorn was coming due to cast type imbalance.

2: The name Sunset Shimmer sounds like she’s the more sunshine based Counterpart to Twilight, at which point we can all say she’s at least following in twilight’s footsteps, and possibly acting as Twilight’s Foil.

3: It is very… Very hard for me to find a reason to say she’s NOT going going to be part of the mane 7.

4: Rarity would be a very lonely Unicorn if this Mare doesn’t join. Not having one of her own ind to talk to.

…Oh wait, that’s four!

I find your lack of Rarity disturbing. But seriously, Rarity is my second favorite pone, half of us changed our avatars to Rarity for a week, we’ve had several pages in this thread dedicated to Rarity, and most people in this thread (based on the favorite ponies list) seem to like Pinkie the least out of the mane 6, and you think Rarity is least liked in this thread? Bitch, plz.

What you say? Have this graph:

It’s clear to me Pinkie is best pone. Bitch, she will cut you up.

As for the singing:

I appreciate the songs, but it’s very unlikely I’ll sing my section. Don’t really have proper recording equipment, plus I can’t sing and you’ll end up with a Dutch accent.

I just woke up from a dream where this evil white guy (>implying all white guys aren’t evil) what looked like Goku from Dragonball Evolution attempted to take over some day camp I was a counselor at in order to take them all hostage and use the Princess Twilight Sparkle who was also there in order to revive some bigger and more evil guy like Ghirahim tried to do with Demise and stuff in Zelda, but Twilight forced his hand by threatening to fight him and forcing him to kill her so that he would either have to surrender, die in the battle, or lose the key component to the bigger and more evil guy’s revival.

And then Twilight was incinerated in this big fireball thing. True story.

Here’s a picture of Sweetie Belle bouncing off of a hamburger to make things more serious.

If not for the nausea, then I'd say I need to eat more doughnuts before I go to sleep.

I had a similar dream when I was younger, I was playing Call of Duty (yeah you can already tell this is a nightmare) and suddenly a SWAT team broke into my house and started shooting my family. I tried to stealth kill one guy by making stabbing sounds with my mouth which wasn’t very stealthy but it didn’t work so he shot me in the leg and I ran out in the backyard and I saw Jesus. I shit you not, I saw Jesus Christ in my backyard telling me I’ll be safe, so as I run up to Jesus he slits my throat.

Fun dream, killed by Jesus, this is an obvious sign.

Everytime I have a memorable dream, it’s about something bad happening to me.

My Dreams Have included… In no particular order…
My Death
My turning into a monster
The Essence of Void/Nothing invading my soul to Influence the world around me.
Me getting thrown in Prison.
I Get Shot…
…Stabbed…
…Drowned…
…Thrown off a building…
I get Stalked by Weaping angels.
Hunted by Giant Zombie Spiders.
Chased by Skeleton Kings flying through the air.

I could go on…

So If I have a dream about ponies, you can definitely bet I’m still going to find a way to hurt myself in that dream somehow.

…Possibly by asking one of them out on a date and they reject me… Which would hurt a lot more than the deceptively realistic pain I feel when I have all those other dreams.

So it’s probably a good thing that my recent dreams haven’t been memorable enough for that to happen.

le sigh

-Post lyrics, feel like a boss, sleep
-Print up important term paper for class
-Hand into teacher, notice at last possible second that song lyrics are printed on back
-Freak out and shiver
-Spaghetti river

Thankfully the song manages to not mention pones and I’m pretty sure it’ll be imcomprehensible to an outsider. Hopefully his curiosity doesnt drive him to do a google search…

@Dreams

Ive actually had a couple of dreams featuring pones and they’re usually pretty fun. In my most recent one, I was FREAKIN. STOKED. that the Equestria games were going to be held in Cloudsdale. I woke up just moments before the first event and being disappointed as hell.

I take this as a sign that my subconcious as successfully synchronized with best pony’s.

And then another dream I had involved me and Deadparrot criticizing the inferior quality of his brother’s crystal meth. Yeah, that trip to California left an interesting impression.

@Windigo

That was actually pretty hilariously bad.

Yes, it had ponies.

And… shit I forgot.

But that’s not important. I had a different dream where I was the princess’ knight or something and I had to fight an evil shoebox that swallowed them and then the box became nice and stuff and it flew away and then I cuddled with Rainbow Dash and everything exploded.

Fuck me, I thought it was cool.

When it comes to dreams I’m fucked up in the head apparently (as you can tell by one of my more ‘infamous’ dreams that always got a laugh out of someone back in highschool)

95% of my dreams ends with me getting killed (sometimes I’m thrown into action situations where for some reason I find myself making sound effects instead of the actual sounds doing anything, I hate that) or are all just freaky or nightmares.

Worst part, those dreams are the ones that feel the most realistic. Me getting my throat slit by Jesus, getting ripped apart by some giant spider/dinosaur thing, getting stabbed by Chip Hazard from Small Soldiers all seem totally legit in my head apparently. But when I’m having a nice dream (Getting laid by super models, becoming a billionaire, meeting best pony Rainbow Dash, everything good happening to me) in the dream I’m sitting there like “Welp, I know I’m dreaming. I guess I’ll be waking up in 3…2…1.” I guess my life just sucks that much where my unconscious brain can tell too many good things are happening to me and bitch slaps me awake. Feels bad man.

When it comes to Pony in my dreams…those are rare despite the fact that I think about Ponies most of the day (But good things are better when they’re a Rarity YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH) I think the only times I remember having a pony dream involve Spaghetti (Quite literally one time), meeting a pony only to be killed seconds later, and one about how I had a dream about Twilicorn in the few days before the episode premiered (it involved me getting the shit kicked out of me by all the Bronies in the Country for saying I enjoyed Twilight becoming an alicorn)

Hey guys sorry for the double post (apparently I’m not allowed to edit my above post after 30 minutes, it’s been 35 minutes. I call racism on this!) but has anyone seen this fanposter for Season 3?

As much as I like this poster/season it just made me realize how really not a lot of eventful things really happened this season. Most of this poster is just Pinkie Pie clones and the Apple family compared to this Season 2 fanposter.

It just feels more empty than the Season 2 fanposter. Just goes to show you that Shortened seasons suck monkey balls and I honestly hope the official Season 3 poster can be a bit more…..more than this.

That’s right, this post is about fanposters. This is a slow pony day.

Feb 28, 2013 at 08:53PM EST
Quote

@Kewln00b: You have a point, but notice how a lot of the characters shoved into the season 2 poster were background ponies that barely had any lines or significance in the episode they appeared in if any significance at all (with a couple of the characters shown being OCs that aren’t even in the series at all). More characters used =/= better season if you ask me. I actually feel that the season 3 poster is more of a failure on the artist’s part than the shortened season’s fault. Looking at it, there are a ton of things I feel could have been added to make the poster seem less empty, and yet we get this. The lack of a background in any real setting does not help that either. Are they all standing in the snow? Why? Couldn’t this have been set in the Crystal Empire? Season 2’s poster has Canterlot in the background, why does season 3 get essentially empty whitish blue space?

I’ve had ponies in dreams, before. One was just waking up in my bed, seeing Applejack sleeping at the foot of the bed, then going back to sleep immediately. That’s the one I remember best, but I know I’ve had others, and I posted about them here, before.

I don’t dream really ridiculous stuff and I rarely remember my dreams. I can sorta-kinda lucid dream when I’m in the state where you’re asleep, but you know you’re asleep, and you could probably wake up if you tried. It’s hard to explain.

Anyways, I’ve been lurking recently, and the remixes of the finale songs to fit KYM would be better if they had your glorious faggot overlord, yours truly, in them.

@Kewln00b:

For thirteen episodes, a hell of a lot happened, so I’m not really complaining. I mean, we got the Cadets, more of the Apple Family, the girl scout, crystal ponies, Pinkie clones, timber wolves, Babs Seed, Sombra, and fruit bats, among others. It’s a fair amount of stuff, in my opinion.

@Dan and Random:

Ha, look at the silly plebs arguing over second best pony. I’m sure we can all agree that it doesn’t matter since Rarity is the undisputed best pony.

Fan-made. It’s not official.

The Season 3 poster looks empty because the artist didn’t put a whole lot of time into it. Pinkies and Apples are all bunched up instead of spread out, there is very little action going on despite this season being more action-y than last, no use whatsoever of structural filler (season 2 has the mountains, cider squeezy, Canterlot…), and no attention has been paid to evenness/color distribution/filling area.

I’d be surprised if they were even done by the same artist they are done so differently. The S3 poster isn’t bad because it was a short season.. It’s just bad.

Feb 28, 2013 at 09:56PM EST
Quote

Another reason the S3 poster looks emptier: Notice the shape of the group the ponies are all in. In S2, they’re all nice and neatly put into a sort of pyramid shape, with larger characters on the outside and smaller characters crammed together in the middle, with the two princesses right at the top of said pyramid. This is a very good use of space, and makes the group look very large. Meanwhile, the S3 poster looks more like a tub of legos dumped on the floor. Like Crazy said, space and color distribution was not used very well in this poster. It honestly doesn’t look like the two posters were made by the same artist.

Poster design is srs bsns.

I might as well ask while I still remember, are we planning on having a synchtube this weekend or are those taking a break until the new season?

@Season 3 poster
The new poster feels very disorganized, too much attention is drawn to Celestia (not that I am complaining but ascetically it is displeasing). The outlining characters are also drawing attention away from main center portion of the poster. Overall it looks like that there was very little effort in the layout of the image, which makes me sad, so be it.

They’ve been there. They’re present at times. I don’t recall ever fully interacting with them or having them play any sort of major role, but it’s akin to seeing your middle school math teacher while you’re trying to save the world from sharks hyped up on laser drugs. You don’t give it any thought, really.

Also, it’s about damn time someone bucks up and remembers to host a synchtube.

@Dreams
I’ve had ponies in my dreams with some regularity, but I can very rarely remember them for very long.
Because of that, the only pony dreams I can vividly recall right now were two of my first ones, and I think I’ve mentioned them here the last time this topic was brought up.
I’ll go again for the new people though.

My first pony dream ever involved myself and Rainbow Dash sitting in a Chinese restaurant.
Dash and I were apparently supposed to be undercover spies because we were attempting to eavesdrop on the mafia don sitting at the table behind us.
Annoyingly, there was an extremely loud, old man sitting at our table (the kind that yells to compensate for their own hearing loss) who would not shut up, blew our cover, and repeatedly called Rainbow ‘Rhino,’ much to her irritation.
There wasn’t much else going on there…

The other dream that I remember involved Luna, Twilight, and me all hanging out at a theme park.
I don’t remember going on any rides, but at one point we got in a buffet-style line and Luna ended up scaring the hell out of the cashier when they ran out of spaghetti.
After causing chaos in the restaurant, the three of us retreated to a nearby hill to laugh like crazy until Celestia showed up.
She was totally pissed off at Luna for not acting ‘royally’ and at Twi and me for encouraging her.

I really need to make an effort to remember more of my pony dreams if only so I can talk about them here…

@Season Three Poster
Right there with everyone else by saying that this new one just seems… lazy.
Yeah, season three was shorter so there is less content, but that’s really not the primary problem.
The composition is all messed up.
Way too much pink on the left, way too much… Apple on the right.
The other big thing is scale.
Where the season two poster looked like all the characters had gotten together for a group photo, this new one looks like it really is just an assemblage of clip-art.
The characters are all wildly different sizes.
Look at the spy Pinkie in comparison to Lyra right under her; Pinkie is huge or Lyra is tiny.
Why didn’t the artist even take the time to correctly proportion them all.
These are all vectors; it’s not like it’s hard to do.

Note for Crimson: I’m pretty sure that the background is meant to be Celestia’s ‘astral plane’ place from the finale.

I agree that it is far too boring of a setting for a poster like this, but it was at least based in canon.

@Synchtube
Wow, suddenly we go from ‘Is there going to be a Synchtube?’ to ‘Oh my God, there are going to be three of them simultaneously!’
Maybe we should designate someone as the official host so that we don’t end up with a bunch come Sunday.
I like Tim’s Highlander battle idea.

Just try to tell me that this cover for Dash’s upcoming comic isn’t badass.

I’d like to thank those guys on the Awkward Zombie forums who had their avatars as pony gifs (mainly Fluttershy’s wing flutter in episode 1 when she meets Spike and then her LOVE ME face) then posted a picture of very girly moments from the show saying “This is legit the manliest show ever”. Then I’d like to thank that Cable Guy who talked me into getting the extra channels even though I couldn’t afford them saying “You won’t regret it”.

Which raises another question, did he know? Or did he just want me to watch Game of Thrones which I keep forgetting to watch? Either way I thank them.

I had ONE pony dream, ONCE. I posted it a while back, in Dream General, but I’ll quote it here for your reading pleasure

Serious Business (in another thread) wrote:

I’m in a large theme park with my family, going on coasters, and decidedly not playing any of those “win-a-giant-Scooby-Doo” games. Suddenly I’m alone, but without a park map. Not worried in the least, I decide to explore. I enter that end of the park where nobody goes anymore, the outdated part that used to be cool too many years ago. Not chipped-paint-bad-carnival-ride old, but rather a dusty, untouched by years type of old, and I wonder if I’m supposed to be here, but there are no signs telling me to keep out, so I keep exploring.

Soon I find a tall building that reminds me of some sort of upscale lodge. I enter, to find that it is 100% My Little Pony themed. However, far from any glaring pastel wallpaper, instead I find intricate woodcarvings of sun, moon, and stars, illuminated purely by sunlight coming from the many windows. I find some stairs that, as I climb them, contribute the only noise to be heard in this abandoned masterpiece of a building. The handrail has a dark, glossy stain that contains almost a baroque level of detail in design. I marvel at the amount of love put into this work, and I feel like I’m in some sort of worship center for those who rely on ponies to raise the sun.

I look up above the stairs and see carved wings, the wings of two regal sisters who rule over the day and night, whose silhouettes are carved into the ceiling. Light shines through between them, and upon reaching the second story, I see the light comes from the noonday sun and a brilliant skylight overhead. Walking around this masterpiece (now below me) I find a door that leads to a beautifully furnished room, full of burgundy old-fashioned armchairs, mahogany desks, little jewelery boxes full of pony bracelet charms, and cabinets with fancy earthenware, all crafted in the most paradoxical high-class style with ponies and cutie marks, which also cover the ceiling and furniture. A window looks outside, not over rides and techno music, but over a well kept lawn of the most beautiful green, surrounded by tall oaks and shrubs.

On the lawn I see two figures in those disturbingly accurate full-body pony suits that are creepy in real life, but perfectly acceptable in a theme park. Scootaloo is there, running and kicking a soccer ball back and forth with someone dressed as Rainbow Dash. I do not question why the park would keep this building here, nor do I wonder why they pay two employees to dress up in character and guard it My only thought now, is that everything is going to be just fine.

Welp, I just had a pony-related dream last night.
The dream kinda jumped around a bit, but mostly I remember that there were two different pony movies coming out (that for some reason got theatrical releases) and my step mother was taking me to see them. We saw the first one, and I thought it was pretty good. The rest of the brony community seemed to absolutely hate it though. I don’t remember much that happened in that movie. The second movie I saw with my step mom and my dad, and that movie was pretty frikin bad. I just remember Rainbow Dash trying to scare Twilight by wearing a snake costume and this somehow takes away everyone’s special talent. I don’t remember much else except that it ended in a terrible musical number. There was non-pony related stuff that happened, like my dad taking a week long trip and me winning $15K, but that’s not too important.

@Kewln00b: I remember why I started watching MLP. I think it was a little over a year ago, I had known about FiM and the brony fandom for a while but I for some reason was just not interested in trying the show (I only find this odd because I love to watch cartoons and animated movies). I guess I was somewhat wary of the fandom because I thought everyone would be obnoxious (take no offense, guys). One day, my boyfriend mentioned that he tried a couple episodes and thought they were ok, so I decided I would give it a shot as well. I ended up watching the first four episodes in one night. Funny enough, my boyfriend ended up not really being a fan of the show, and stopped watching after just a few episodes and I ended up finishing the series within a matter of a few weeks (I think we were in the last few episodes of season 2 when I finished).

Okay, so I don’t think I want to turn this into another thing like we had a few pages ago between Advance and EQD, but I took another look at that Season Three poster and now I’m kind of annoyed…
(Source for people who don’t want to scroll back up.)
For whatever reason, I didn’t even realize that the guy used my Apple Bloom and Babs vector until really late last night.
Now I have no problem whatsoever with people using them (It’s why I made them in the first place), but it’s the way the guy wrote up the description on his DA page that bothers me.
He writes this:

ALL the character vectors shown as well as the background, were taken form the mlp-vectorclub, so credit goes to the fans who drew them, for I am not bothering to list every single name here.

That statement alone just helped to solidify my opinion of the guy being ‘lazy’ (I meant it from a design standpoint before, but now it also applies more broadly) since essentially all he did was arrange a bunch of other people’s vectors, but couldn’t be bothered to actually list credit for them.
That in itself is worthy of some disappointment, but he then seems to double-down on it by saying this:

I won’t stop the fans from printing it so they can have it signed by people who work on the show at conventions & such. All I ask is that you give me, and the artists whose vectors are shown, credit.

So suddenly, using the poster yourself requires you to credit him, but he can’t be bothered to credit the people who he ‘borrowed’ from outside of saying that they are all from a certain group.
A group that contains hundreds of members and thousands of vectors that no one who just wants a poster to sign is going to willingly search through just to give credit.
There are already plenty of comments on his page that are making the (perfectly reasonable) assumption that he made everything pictured so his little disclaimer is obviously not working.
Until I noticed my own vector in there, even I had assumed that this one guy had done it all himself.

I don’t know.
I still don’t consider vector-tracing, even my own, to be ‘art’ so I have no intent to scream ‘Art Theif!’ but it still feels like this guy is taking undue credit for work that he didn’t do, menial as it may be.
I guess I liken it to a director of a small movie making sure to put his own name at the end but listing the film crew as ‘and a bunch of dudes from the teamsters union.’
Sorry, but I feel that if someone helped you out, they deserve actual credit for what they did, no matter how small the contribution.
As the organizer, you will inevitably get the lion’s share of the praise, but if you don’t want to acknowledge anyone else’s contributions, you should do it all yourself.

And now…
I RIDE!

(Not me)

@Advance
I saw that and somehow I knew that it would be you who posted that. =)
Also canon: Rainbow being awesome!

@DeadParrot: It seems that there are already people giving the artist of this poster a hard time for not properly sourcing (although some are being a bit too abrasive about it if you ask me). I myself asked the artist to source the vectors.

Speaking as a friend of a vector artist whose work was used in this poster (the one with Babs and Apple Bloom, to be exact). I strongly suggest that you take the time to credit the artists for every vector used in this poster. It’s highly unfair that you expect the people printing out your poster to give credit to you, and yet you “can’t be bothered” to credit and list every artist who worked hard on their vectors which you so casually use. By not listing the artists who made the vectors and just linking to the group you found them in, you are keeping people from easily knowing which artist made what, and by extension keeping these talented artists from getting traffic to their own pages. Being lazy is not an excuse for poor sourcing.

Sorry if that seemed too nosy, but I really think someone who gets so much attention for their work should not be careless about proper sourcing. Even if this poster didn’t get much attention, the artist should still have properly sourced. You don’t hand in a research paper and have your works cited page say “I couldn’t be bothered to write down all of my sources” and the same should be said about a piece that includes other people’s work. If you do not properly source, that means that you are plagiarizing. Period.

This artist did the same exact thing for their season 2 poster as well, with the same wording “I can’t be bothered to list all of the artists”. Not only that, but he gives special credit to Sibsy for having her OC make an appearance in the season finale. This just makes me have less faith in the artist’s priorities. Only giving real credit to the “important” people of the fandom and not giving a care to the smaller artists.

There, I think I filled my white-knighting quota for the day.

@Deadparrot

You know Deadparrot, I think this is the first time you’ve ever espoused an opinion that I find throughly disagreeable. You do realize how easily your arguments can be applied to yourself, correct?

When you do your vectoring, hell, when you did the very vector that this guy used for his poster, you didn’t bother to exhaustively list everyone involved in the production staff. That just wouldn’t be practical, so you just credit the group as a whole, the same thing that he did. In a sense, I think he’s even a little more justified than yourself because at least this guy was putting some (admittedly crappy) artistic input into the work through the arrangement of the vectors. All you ever do is convert pictures from one format to another. Shit, you don’t even pick out the colors. Do you credit the guy who makes those little color charts that you need to use?

I don’t think that’s unreasonable though. For something as informal as fan work, something very clearly derivative in nature, the standards are a lot lower than for something which claims to be original or mostly original. I think that when all you’re taking credit as the maker of fanart that it’s entirely appropriate just to cite the major source which you’re copying from without going into exhaustive detail. Combine that with the fact that listing ALL of the people who contributed to the project would be entirely unfeasible, and I don’t see anything wrong with asking that people credit him as the overall organizer of the work and the general source of the material he used.

tl;dr: It’s all just fanwork. Quit your bitching and enjoy the pretty drawings of pones.

@DeadParrot
Looks like he went through and credited everyone because some people were not part of the MLP Vector Club. A little too late, having been already EqD-featured, but at least it’s been repaired.

Fifths, I’d like for you to tell that to all of the vector artists who put all of that time into making those vectors, only to be (initially) left out while the guy who made the poster wants everyone to credit him. That’s not “informal fan work”. That’s plagiarism.

Before you say I am stoling this art let me explain you a thing…
