With our new insight into the mind of Pyro, I’d say Fluttershy is actually a better fit than Pinkie Pie. She’d refuse to believe she was hurting anyone and would think she was only making them happy. Also, people often forget that the Medic is a sadistic ex-Nazi who enjoys hacking people apart for science. Fluttershy is better Pyro, Pinkie Pie is better Medic.

Strangely, there’s no fan art of Fluttershy as Pyro, and this is really the closest thing to Pinkie Pie Medic I could find that didn’t involve copious amounts of blood.

But, yeah, I’d be down for some Team Fortress.

Can someone explain to me what the big deal was about the fluffy ponies on derpibooru? Why did some people want them banned all together? I’m not up to date on several pony art fads, so I wouldn’t know anything about it.

Also, I don’t even miss Ponibooru. Derpibooru is better in just about every way.

@20% Cooler

You might want to ask him something about 4Kids. Considering his Youtube channel was just taken down again, it might be worth hearing something from him.

Also, it seems we don’t do synchtubes anymore. It’s a bit early to ask, but would anyone be up for one sometime Saturday? I call dibs on setting it up.

@Muffins
Fluffy ponies are… interesting…
They started out as just cute drawings that used baby talk (‘wan pway’ and the like).
Then, people started writing and drawing them as extremely stupid, eventually to the point where they would accidentally kill themselves in ridiculous ways.
This then led to a massive wave of ‘fluffy pony abuse’ where people would write extremely graphic stories (mostly. Some art, too) about beating, murdering, raping, etc, etc, the little things, usually for being stupid.
It became pretty divisive as some people find them either very disturbing or very badly written or both and want the spamming of it to stop.
Others say that it is a legitimate, if odd, sub-segment of the brony fan-base and so deserves a place on pony boards.

My opinion?
I don’t like fluffy pony abuse stuff.
The way they talk and act puts them essentially is the realm of being a toddler, and I don’t understand the compulsion to read about people bashing their heads in (or worse).
The mentality seems very… creepy to me.
That said, they are legitimate pony-related images and so long as they are tagged properly to allow for filtering, I think they shouldn’t be banned.

@20%
Nice interview.
It really walked a fine line between support and mocking, but I think it ended positively enough.
And, that lucky bastard got a free Derpy!

@Conner, below
Oh, it didn’t realize they had an entry already.
That article does a decent job of marking the origin, but it could use more info on the spread.
There were times on Ponibooru where green text stories and violent gore pictures would be almost every other image and it caused quite the fight for some time.
Not to mention this very recent Derpibooru thing, now.

Honestly, I find it kind of sad, to a degree.
Because of the popularity of the abuse, cute/funny fluffy pony pictures are pretty rare despite their original intent.

well i’m pretty sure i’d get steamrolled by either of the two Eternal Sisters. in fact, i’m pretty sure i’d get my ass kicked by any of the mane characters at all.
however, simply for the awesome factor i’d probably battle Twilight Sparkle, because i’d imagine her magical attacks are badass beyond compare.

Hey guys, mind if I bounce an idea offa you?

What if Screwball was actually Discord’s familiar? You know, a magical creature that’s intelligent but fiercely loyal to it’s creator. Don’t get me wrong, she’d still consider Discord her ‘daddy’ and for all intents and purposes that’s pretty much the case, but then we’d finally have a handle on their exact relationship.

Do ya think that’s an interesting direction to go with her (still pretty vague and unexplored) fanon? It’d certainly get rid of that stupid “who’s the mother” implied shipping malarky that’s been holding her back.

On the topic of Fluffy Ponies, this recently showed up on my Tumblr Dashboard:

That’s from the Dan vs FiM blog, which has recently reappeared after going on hiatus for a few months (it had something to do with the creator’s laptop breaking). It’s pretty amusing to read through it, and the art is about as close to show accurate as you’re going to get, so y’all should check it out!

@Synchtube
It occurred to me a few days ago that we haven’t had a Synchtube in a while, and I sorta miss them. I’m in, but can we please make sure it happens at a reasonable time? I’m 5 hours ahead of the East Coast, so if it’s much later than 6pm EST I might not be able to join.

chowzburgerz wrote:

Probably Big Macintosh. He’d easily be capable of bucking me into a fine powder given the chance, but I doubt he would want to. We’d just resolve the ‘epic battle’ with a little civilised discussion:

“So, err, you really want to do this?”

“nnnope”

“Huh… alrighty then, later Macintosh!”

“eeyup”

And hence I would leave with all of my bones intact.

There’s also the problem that I’m not a huge fan of violence in general, and I’d feel like crap if I had to punch Fluttershy (or any of the mane 6 for that matter). Best to go with a stallion, and one who would probably forgive me for inflicting a little injury. If it had to be one of the mane 6, I’d go with Applejack, just because she seems to be the most level headed and she’d forgive any harm done. She’s also the least likely to dissolve me with magic / attack me with sewing needles / stare me into a coma / nuke me with a rainbow / Pinkie Pie me (whatever that would entail).

That’s how I’ve seen her from the start. The idea that she was born in the conventional sense just seems a little stupid to me (I mean, Discord is practically a deity), so no shipping is required. I’ve always seen her as a creation of Discord, but one that didn’t exist until he returned to power. She was part of his chaos, but where she went after his reign ended is unclear. That’s just my personal headcanon though, and I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea that she was always associated with him in some way. Maybe she went into hiding when he was turned to stone, or maybe she ceased to exist while he was imprisoned, only to return to her former state on his resurrection. There are a few interesting ways of interpreting her, so I don’t see why the fandom can’t be a little more creative in her depictions.

I’m assuming it’s a fight to the death. Ok, first, I think humans have the advantage of being a more aggressive species. We have weapons that outclass what we’ve seen them do. I also think hands are gonna help very much in the fight. So, I think I should have a day to prepare. I can only bring knives to an earth pony fight and a handgun to a unicorn and Peguses fight to make it more even. I think I would choose rainbow dash, because she is a cunt.
In the fight, I would go for her big eyes. They are a big target. Also I would always try to stay in front to avoid her kicks. To finish her off, my best bet would be either shooting her obviously, or getting her in a choke hold. She can try bucking, but she will be out in about 10 seconds flat. Once she is out, shot to the head or just kick the the neck. I’d say the deciding factor is the fact that the ponies are more or less peaceful species while humans are not. we would burn equestria to the ground.

Reminds me of this

It’s true. We just want to watch the world burn. I’m watching a kids cartoon, take that society!

And then we will have our engineers invent COMBUSTIBLE PONIES! And we’ll burn your world down with the Ponies!

Actually to be honest, the fact that Bronies are able cause confusion and calamity just by celebrating a kids cartoon makes the whole thing all the more entertaining.

I wish I didn’t care.

So yesterday I went outside to survey the destruction again. 24 hours had barely made a difference, the neighborhood was still a complete disaster, and I was enjoying the hell out of it. There is just something about the aesthetic of raw destruction that I find massively appealing. I love seeing the neat plastic rows of the suburbs, so meticulously planned, so soulless, kicked into dissaray by 10 minutes of thunderous fury. I love seeing the thoughtless morons that make up humanity forced out of that comfortable autopilot in which they cruise through life, forced to abandon their false sense of security and realize that everything they’ve spent their lives building can be wiped away in a second by the unthinking passions of earth, wind, and sky.

I love that a lot, but I can’t love it fully, because at the end of the day, I have to come home to a hot house with no food and no lights. I have a yard full of branches that I’m probably going to have to clean up. I am forced by the retreat of the sun to sit in the dark, rolling about in the languid heat and my own sweat, hoping only for sweet unconcious.

I wish I could be like the storm, passionate, powerful, and uncaring. I wish I could revel in existence as it is without my mind obsessively turned to how I think it should be. If there is a God, such is his mind.

Anyway, electricity is back on, time for pony.

@Pony battle

Some people really have no faith in the resilience of human society.
It seems like every couple years (hell, every couple weeks sometimes) some new ‘threat’ comes along that will certainly destroy the foundations of thousands of years of culture and reduce us all to a post-apocalyptic wasteland level of madness.
Obviously, such things never actually happen.
The fact that idiots get so worked up over something as benign as a cartoon only proves how stupid it is.

@Dac

It is my compassion for the human condition that makes me enjoy watching humans get fucked.

I have gone through my life obsessed with reaching a kind of personal perfection. I have sought to make myself a just man, an honest man who did as he said. I have tried to maintain a reasonable and philosophical mindset, to hold no bias when concerns either judgments of fact or judgments of character. I have tried to make myself a good man and a positive force on this earth.

That shit isn’t easy. It was a constant struggle everyday, a path wrought with personal failure and disappointment. I found my efforts rewarded not with a sense of accomplishment or rightness, but depression and self-loathing.

And what of my fellow man? How did they respond to my efforts to make myself something good? They responded with hypocrisy, cowardice, and stupidity. While I took on the burden of trying to be a good and just man, everywhere I looked, the rest of my species lazed about uncaringly in the filth of their vice. Religious fools not having a tenth of my moral character dared to condemn me a sinner, the idiots and morons dared to laugh at my philosophies. While I, the man trying to be a just man, was utterly miserable, the fools and the lackwit fucks got to enjoy life. Fuck them, fuck them all. They deserve tornados and trees in their living rooms.

@DeadParrot

I always felt kind of bad for Discord when he got defeated. I mean, he was just having so much fun. NMM was an emotionally destroyed Luna, Chrysalis was doing her duty to the hive, but Discord, fuck, there was a Draconequus who loved his job. Stopping him was like taking a kid out of candy land.

I’m back from going to a Rangers game with my brother and dad, which is why I was absent for the end and start of the last thread and this thread, respectively. I’ve read most of the posts since then, but I’m too out of the loop/lazy to respond.

However, if I had to get into an epic battle against a pony, I’d probably go with Trixie or Flim/Flam. They’re antagonistic enough that I could stand subduing them (I tend to not mercilessly beat other people, and usually just headlock when I get into fights), and probably not strong enough to beat me. Trixie could use pizzazz to distract me, but I’d still tackle her ass easily enough. Flim and Flam would both be stronger than her, but without the magical talent. I’d wager I could still tackle them.

Anyways, that’s all I got. Carry on.

Jul 03, 2012 at 01:49PM EDT

@Fifths
Religion is not folly.
There are some who take things to levels God would never intend. I have seen people condemn anyone not visiting their church or following their way of Christianity to be sinners and go to hell. I’m Christian, but I wish no ill will against anyone.
Does being sexually moral make me a fool?
No.
But does someone who doesn’t believe the way I do should go to hell?
No.
I have my faith and I have my code. I live by it to give me a guide on life. I may disagree with people, but I don’t wish ill will towards others. .
To demand the destruction and catastrophe on others, I’m afraid, makes you a hypocrite. You say you want to be a rightous man, but you demand the destruction on others.
The rightous man is one who keeps his code and does his best to live the way he sees fit. He does not seek harm on others whom he is in disagreement, but hopes that he will move on. If it comes to anger, he will seek to not demand punishment, but argue reasonably.
Fifths, I can tell you are having trouble being a good person. I’ve been there. You try to live through life, but the world brings you down. You realize that you are mostly by yourself. But then you should move along. Find what you like. If things frustrate you, it’s okay to get angry, but never let it take over you. If you must, avoid the things that can lead to your anger, until you feel that you can move on.
Try to avoid such thoughts of ill will. They lead to destruction of yourself.
Sometimes I’m at odds with myself. I think or say things that usually I won’t usually think, but then I drag myself out. It’s a daily battle.
Like Verbose, I’m not too crazy about fornication. But that doesn’t mean I’m not turned on sometimes. The point being, sometimes what you are morally about and what your mind tell you can differ. You will not always find yourself rightous all the time. Humans are flawed, and we recognize that. We can do the best to to what we can about ourselves, and control. To lose control, means to make yourself a slave to your instincts, and not be independent. You can’t fully control yourself, but you can get a grasp on what’s important.
Try to live life as a way to move on. You’ll find hard times, you may find anger. But you have the choice to move on. You can sit around and let these things bother you…or you can find better times and do something you can enjoy. You’ll find that these things will stop bothering you as often.

tl;dr You can’t stop things you don’t agree with…but you can do your best to deal with them.

This should apply to all of you.
I may not seem to be the one to deliver a message, but I try. Yes, I’ve gone mad sometimes. In fact, though, the butthurt that is displayed by me is usually overreactions on purpose. Makes me laugh. Sure, I may not be exactly pleased, but I don’t really let it bother me.
Try to not let the world bring you down. It will destroy you if you let it. Instead, show it that you can live life without it bothering you.

Thinking so destructive isn’t going to help you in any way. Destruction is done easily, tearing something up doesn’t require thought or careful consideration. You just have to wait and everything will fall apart one day. Basically this is not only true for objects, but also for relation- and friendships.

Perhaps you should try to build or create something. BTW yesterday i spend the whole day on the roof fixing broken tiles. At the end of the day i was wasted, but happy.

This thread is so young, and yet already suffering such massive derailment…

Fifths, what you are describing does not sound like compassion. It sounds like you’re pretty judgmental yourself, to be honest. And like Popper said, I really don’t think all of that resentment is healthy.

I agree with Dac’s advice to be less negative about things. I’ve never cared too much for misanthropy, as it’s kind of difficult to enjoy life when you go around hating people all the time. And even though I agree that nature is impressive and that kind of destruction can be somewhat awe-inspiring, I would really check those feelings with the knowledge of the suffering it’s put some people through.

Now, for epic pony battle time.

I think I’d rather not battle any of them myself. Lacking magic and such, it’s not like there’s anything I could do against them anyway.

I think I’ll just say what I would like to see in an epic pony battle then. I’d like to see the ponies attempt to fight something without the elements of harmony or massive love-powered force fields. Every time they’ve done that (vs. a manticore, a dragon, and the changeling horde), it’s been very brief, though reasonably violent. Like many have lamented, the duel between Chrysalis and Celestia could have been much more, and it would have been especially cool to have had Luna show up. They didn’t have time to do all that of course, but it would have been awesome to see a real showdown with various kinds of magic in play.

@Fifths

I see you have a rather arrogant viewpoint.

There’s no denying that humans are vain, hypocritical and foolish. But to believe that one is somehow above those failings is the very height of all three. Not to say that attempting to correct those failings is bad, in fact it is very commendable, but you should never start thinking you’re somehow “better” for it.

Why is this, you ask? Because eradicating our failings is impossible. This is because these failings are intrinsic to our very being, as they arise from our minds being incompatible with our bodies. See, as sapient creatures, we have the unique problem of being an impossibly intricate and complicated consciousness stuck in an outdated, inefficient corporeal form. This is problematic because despite what we like to tell ourselves, we are very much slaves to our basic biological needs. Unfortunately, to rid ourselves of this tyranny of the flesh, we’d have to separate mind from body. Too bad all attempts so far have resulted in both dying.

So how do most people solve this issue? They simply “turn off” the higher functions of their brain, living through their daily routine on “autopilot”, as you said. Given that you’ve stubbornly attempted the opposite, turning off your base desires, and seen first hand how painful it is, can you really blame them?

I see that you feel that it is unfair. You, who has worked so hard to be closer to the ideal end up getting the shit end of the shafting while the fucks who took the easy way out get to frolic and be happy, how is that fair? Well, it isn’t, plain and simple. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that this reality is not built on a system of justice, it is simply happenstance that decides the outcome.

Which is why your view that the mindless masses are somehow getting their just deserts patently ridiculous, not to mention the fact that you feel this way indicates that you are indeed not above your base desires for vengeance. For an injustice entirely of your own making, I might add. After all, no-one forced you to embark upon this quest of flagellation, other than yourself. And nothing is keeping you from abandoning it, either. You could just say “fuck it” and become one of the mindless mass, content to live out your days in comfort, and nobody would judge you too harshly for it.

Of course, I’d recommend against such a course of action. You’ve already gotten this far, may as well see it through. After all, folk such as yourself are few and far between, I’d hate to see the ranks thin further. I said before that I admire your desire for self-improvement, but I feel you’re going about it the wrong way. Instead of hopelessly struggling against your innermost desires, you should recognize, accept and work with them, as you will never truly be rid of them. And never let it go to your head, that’s vital. Nothing makes you more vulnerable to the influence of your primal side than believing you’ve conquered it.

Also, heed what PopperFett said as well, just disregard the religious connotations.

@PopperFett

While I’m at it, I’ll address your rather self-righteous attitude, as that’s been bothering me for a while as well.

Much of what I wrote above also applies to you. You too seem to have this idea that you’re somehow better than the rest because you follow your dogmas of choice so fervently. While you are more tolerant of other folk and their strange wants, I can’t help but feel that you think less of them, even if you don’t voice it. While such unfair judgement is unavoidable, given human nature, I also have the niggling feeling that you believe yourself above such failings. As I’ve said, that is precarious position to hold.

Now, I’m fairly certain you do recognize your failures and reflect upon them, but your devotion to your religion makes me question that. That’s prejudice on my part, I know, but I’ve had rather bad experiences with zealots before, so I like to take extra precautions. No offence.
