here's what one feminist had to say on her blog

"It tells readers that rape is normal, and even worse it tells rapists that rape is normal"

as you can tell, feminists are REALLY GOOD at assuming how certain things can affect the actions and mindsets of certain people

Do you intend to make this a serious discussion thread, or is it mainly to blow off steam?

^That was posted on the Oatmeal entry less than 5 minutes before you made this thread, about a situation that took place more than two weeks ago. So it's easy to conclude you learned about it through the entry around 10 minutes ago, ergo the reason for my above question.

you're suggesting I can't do the following in 10-15 minutes?

- read the oatmeal comic
- read some backlash article/blog about the rape joke
- read some pro-inman article/blogs
- develop a well thought out opinion about the topic

Well that's just fine and dandy. I sense much mad in you. Perhaps your posterior is frustrated.

Rape jokes aren't okay because it makes light of a situation that affects a significant percentage of the population in the world. It may not cause rape but it certainly makes those who have been raped feel bad, as you're making fun of an incredibly stressful situation they've been in in the past.
