Why would you even need or want to patent DNA?

DNA patenting comes into play primarily because of companies that deal in horticulture.

If you design a seed for a plant that is disease resistant, has a built in pesticide and insecticide that’s safe for people, AND it can’t bear more seeds (so people can’t keep making more without your authorization), you’ve got gold in the form of plants. Companies that use these seeds want to secure their product, however, science circles argue the ethics of patenting DNA, as it could hinder science for decades if they aren’t allowed to use that gene sequence (without the patent holders authorization)

However, the article is about human DNA, which is odd. I’ve never heard of human DNA being sought after for patent, and can’t think of any real uses it could invoke (well. Besides clone wars)

Curses. My plan to create a race of patented docile slave-humans is at an end.

That’s because Chuck Norris won’t allow it

Chuck Norris designed his own DNA.
Chuck Norris can’t be cloned, because nobody can take Chuck’s DNA!
Chuck Norris isn’t made up of DNA; DNA is made up of Chuck Norris
