Izhmash, the original manufacturer of the AK-47. doesn't produce it since 1959. Most of the AK's we see today are either cheap sporting replicas (chambered in .22 rifle), illegal non-licenced copies or upgrades/modernisations of the rifle (like the AK-74/103, abakan, AKM, Etc)

In Soviet Russia, farmers use AK-47's to mow their lawns.
