So, I really like this movie, m’kay? It makes me happy. I bought the soundtrack, I’ve watched it twice, and everything’s great. Out of no where, the internet gets flooded with Rule 34 renditions and hardcore shipping of Frozen.

I also spent almost 2 hours making a well-researched Frozen subculture article, only to see that one was submitted in the middle of my development period. I am now sad, but this thread is to make me happy again and remind us all why this movie is awesome! This is to celebrate all things good about ir and to take us away from the pr0n and the Jack Frost fanfictions. I really hope this takes off. You can do it guise!

I actually thought about starting one of these threads. Who’s ready for Frozen: The Musical???
Maybe it will be followed by “Frozen on Ice.” XD

And here’s an obligatory “Fuck it all!” which the songwriters for Frozen reviewed. lol.

Lastly, Have some nightmares.

Not every good movie deserves a thread. If there were any sequels announced and/or other important news having to do with expanding the Frozen universe that we could discuss and speculate, or even if you had some sort of speculation/theory to discuss relating to the movie, then this would be worth having a thread, but the only thing I can see coming out of this is image and video dumping, followed by lots of “OMG THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD MOVIE” and “This movie sucked!”, which isn’t exactly a good thing.

Also, asking for no porn or shipping will directly cause people to post porn and shipping

And getting entry snubbed is not a very good reason to make a thread either

Is it wrong that I kinda want an Olaf spinoff.?
Made by Thurop Van Orman?
And scarier than this?

Hell, any one think that Olaf ’s like Flapjack?
His voice even sounds like an older Flapjack.

But not every good movie deserves a meme DB entry does it? Obviously this isn’t just any movie as it’s spent 10 weeks at the box office and on the verge of passing Finding Nemo’s throne of Highest-grossing Original Disney Animation Ever. Although it remains to be seen if Frozen will get a sequel anytime soon, most Disney films do get some kind of a sequel, even if they’re B-rate productions just meant to be cash cows. We already know Finding Nemo is getting a Finding Dory sequel this year, and The Lion King got a bunch of sequels (though none as stunning as the first really). Maybe we’ll get a Frozen/Tangled universe expansion at the same time! At the very least we’ll have this Frozen sing-along theater release to tide us over in two days time.

Also, here’s the girl who played the voice of ‘young Anna’ in the film. Her family said, “she should make enough from the movie to pay for college.” Lol. Ya think? They made that statement over 7 weeks ago when the film had barely released. XD

Edit: @Olaf: DId anyone else think of Knick Knack when they first saw him?

This movie makes me very passionate. I know what will come of this thread, but it’s just another way to fuel my bottomless obsession with it. If there is news on a major breakthrough in this movie, this thread might resurface, or if locked, it’s almost certain that a new one will be formed. This was really more of an impulse post, but I’m not going back now!

Here, have an Elsa!

I think Crimson Locks is right. There’s really not much possible discussion when it comes to something like this, even if it isn’t “just any movie”. It’s not ongoing; there’s really not much to analyze (what, 120 minutes?); characters and their actions were very predictable (kinda stifles character discussion).

The thread does deserve a chance, though. Threads with a much smaller audience have lasted.

Stimulative Question:

What would Frozen look like if it was done in the animation style of the older Disney classics instead of the 3D CG style introduced by Tangled?

Examples:

Instead of:

That would be interesting. Got any fan-art?

Yeah, I’d be interested in seeing a non computer animated Frozen as well. Probably wouldn’t be as dynamic, but I thought the reason Disney split off Pixar was too keep it old school. Everything from Finding Nemo, Wreck-it-Ralph, Tangled, etc. feels like it might as well have been from Pixar. Sure the models have minute differences between the companies, but it doesn’t feel old school like Paperman or Winnie the Pooh did.

(Also, upon googling Disney films I discovered that Wikipedia list plans for a Star Wars 8 & 9 already, as well as a Tron 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean continuation. Also, I didn’t realize Finding Dory was scheduled for Summer 2016. With all the talk I though it would be the end of this year at the latest.)

(Edit: Why don’t we make this a Disney general. That might work better. I luv me sum didny.)

Here’s some fan art that imagines the film in 2d.

Here’s also some 2d sketches that would fit well in a 2d version of the movie:

In fact what about Wreck-It Ralph? What would it look like if it was in 2d?
I’ve always thought it would be cool if the 3d characters were based on polygon video games (Vanellope, Sergeant Calhoun) while the 2d characters were based on video games that have sprite graphics (Fix-It Felix, Wreck-It Ralph). It would have been nice to see a film that combines CG and hand drawn animation.
Here’s some animation tests.

That last video you saw was the last piece of animation made for a feature film in Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Interestingly enough, Frozen (or more accurately “The Snow Queen”) was a movie that Disney wanted to do back when, well, Disney himself was still alive. Originally the movie was scheduled to come out after Sleeping Beauty but got delayed for various reasons. Since then Disney has tried a few other times to make the Snow Queen, basically every time a new wave of Disney Princesses came along there was an attempt to make this movie, but the plan always fell through. Personally, I am very happy to have waited until this decade, because I feel that not only allowed them to do the crazy detailed CG animation that couldn’t be conceivably achieved by 2d (not to bash 2d animation, both forms are fantastic) but it also allowed the movie to have more action oriented heroines, less “damseling” a more feminist-like concepts in general. Not to sneeze at the old classics from the 50s, but I think many of us can agree Frozen would not be the same if it was made in that time.

EDIT: I made a Disney general so we can discuss Frozen, Tangled, and other Disney movies past, present, and future to our little heart’s content: Feel free to go here
