Netcraft has not confirmed it yet, but Slashdot is dying. Here are some alternatives that are popping up:
- Soylent News, which is red.
- Pipedot, which opened with the line "I'm doing a (free) news website (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like osdn)." Heh.
- Technocrat plans to launch tomorrow.
Let's make this a thread to discuss technology news websites.
- Reddit /r/technology has a broader subject view.
- Techdirt provides all of the politics and none of the tech.
- Ars Technica has tech news out the arse.
- Lobste.rs has some really interesting tech links like Hacker News used to before they went all-politics.
- Linux Weekly News does only Linux news and does it well.
- Hack A Day has some awesome hardware hacks.
- The comp.risks digest is still around.
- A List Apart has essays on web development.
- Dr. Dobbs discusses programming languages.
If you're into tech, what do you read?
