So they finally got it. Good on em, it's a very big part of video game history. It's a big deal.
At last.
Holy crap, it actually happened. Hope they finished the AVGN Movie in time.

I thought this was a myth wtf
Really happy to see this was true all along! I don't know why I'm happy, maybe because it's always been a big part of gaming culture, I suppose.
This just cracks me up. I knew it had to be real.
They should sell those for charity or something, I know I would want a landfill ET game.
Wait, people thought this was an Urban Legend this whole time and had to dig it up to prove it?
Hahaha, hell no. The reports of Atari burying those copies were confirmed decades ago.
When I read the title of this thread I thought they found an actual alien. But this is just as amazing a find.

Oh boy, I bet James Rolfe is pissed now that he doesn't have a plot for his movie. I suppose that's karma for delaying the thing for so long.

What the hell are you talking about? He knew for a while about the documentary crew that was coming in to dig; shooting for the AVGN movie wrapped a few months ago. And as someone who was really into film for a while and read a couple books on the process, I can tell you that making an independent production like his with all the bells and whistles of a Hollywood release can take way fucking longer than what his is going to end up taking.

1. He actually knew about the unearthing, and why would he even want to change the plot over this?
2. 'Delaying'. Right. Because it's so easy just to make a movie as an indie film maker. Yeah, I bet he was just chilling, thinking: whatever, I'll do it next week.
3. Karma? Does he owe us the movie or something?
Welp. The portal to Hell has been unearthed. Seal it before the HFS breaks through to exterminate the surface world.
Guess Atari couldn't pay people forever to stop unearthing. Why didn't they just bury it under nuclear waste? XD
What in the hell are they gonna do with 3.5-4 million copies of E.T. for Atari 2600?
↑ Delete System32 and then rule the world.

Use them as methods of torture.
