I only have suggestions on what we can do to make things easier for everyone, not anything concrete. This is all a work in progress.

(1) Some sort of master post we can direct people to who want to know what all of this is about. It was easy to inform people about the news during the first week. A lot has happened since then. If we had one easy thing/place that could give everyone the info they needed, we could save a lot of "I'm new to all of this, what's going on?"

(2) Another archiving place of sorts. Archiving everything is important, but there are way too many big images in the gallery right now. We should save the articles, but uploading them all to KYM is making the gallery a slog to scroll through. They should be kept, as I am anticipating many journalists deleting everything once they really get backed into a corner.

(3) A timeline or something for people to refer to. Once again, a lot has happened. It's pretty hard to keep track of it all. Anyone who's good at logging things and can keep a list of the hows and whens would be a big help.

That's what I got for now. I think they'd be a great help, and save us from having to repeat ourselves too much.

What is this magical place? Such wonders.

Doh, would you kindly be one of the people to drop the link to the thread in the comments every now and again? I assume you already know that, so just think of this as an official announcement to anyone who wants to help out by doing that.

So why exactly is ZQ still talked about so much the movement? I know we refer to her as Literally Who but a different name doesn't change much.

It is our attempt to remove her from the convo, literally. It doesn't help that she kept trying to barge in and make it about her.

I could just direct them to the Escapist megathread OP, really. They have all the shit there. Which i will update the OP pretty soon.

1. Isn't the main KYM article the main reference point already?
2. That's a really bad habit of user Alpha Heisenbadger. The gallery definitely needs cleanup
3. GamerGaters made this.

@Aqua:
1. Apparently not, given how there's some new user asking for info almost every other day.

2. I do not object to saving the articles. In fact, they need to be saved to prevent the possibility of the journalists cowering away and deleting everything in an attempt to try and say "But we did nothing wrong!" They started this, and GG has every right to finish it.

That said, the gallery has too many long as hell images. A clean-up wouldn't be a bad thing.

3. That's helpful. We should keep a hold of it.

Sorry that my newfriend is showing, but what happened to all the Chelsea stuff? I was lurking a lot back then and I remember a lot of stuff about LW being some kind of Dutch nobility? Anything ever come out of that?

It was a dead lead. But the last thing i heard is that the family disowned her after her whole porn shots. And no, it isn't Dutch nobility as much as their linage descended from famed Dutch merchant.

Alpha, it'd be nice if you could just clean up the article screenshots yourself.

How so Mr Aqua?

Edit: What the hell? I was joking about shitposting.

While we're here, I think there's something that needs deciding on. What exactly is newsworthy as far as GG is concerned?

Most of the things that the journalists do to further attack gamers deserves at least some kind of mention, a high-profile person speaking about it does, and if it gets on the news again, that's pretty important.

But does every single Tweet or post about GG need acknowledgment? Archive everything, sure, but what really belongs in the article and image/video gallery?

Do you guys think that the ant-GG crowd will find about about the know your meme page? It's been a pretty major point of convergence ever since this thing started. Do you figure they'd try to shut us down?

I guess for starters InternetAristocrat and MundaneMatt videos regarding the subject or are related to the subject.

I can't imagine they aren't aware of it, unless KYM is still as widely looked down on by the Internet at large as it was years ago.

If they really did try to take down the page, they'd have to go through the staff first. And if they decided to be completely irrational and try to shut down KYM like they are 8chan, that might be grounds for a lawsuit depending on what they do.

At this point we might as well hoard everything. Chances are there will be useful shits buried in there.

I think that there really is no other communal place to put it where others will see it. I think as long as we keep the stupid/insignificant stuff out of the main article it'll be fine. Also, being sure to upvote the important stuff will allow it to gain more visibility.

And yeah, the break into the mainstream and the interviews on the news deserve a section.

There're certain criterias, I think:
- Notable figures
- Post containing extremely sensational content
- Post containing crucial evidence
That might be gallery worthy.

To make it into the main article: happenings of large scale and/or surrounding key figures.

I was reading the Tumblr of an anti-GG and they laughed off even the suggestion of going to KYM. We're safe.

I will say though is that Know Your Meme page had been shills free for a majority of the time. The voting system also help to curb stomp any attempt to derail or shilling. With the voting system in the forum, i expect the same thing as well. But we will still need to be vigilant

Yeah, I've always appreciated the KYM layout. Although it can take a while to load on my PC sometimes cuz of all the images and gifs.

Doh, if you advise people not to bloat the comment section on the article, practice what you preach.

It will just mainly be the usual stuffs about update and news, but yes if this thread took off i will move some of the more humourous and cringeworthy shits to here.

Personally, I think if we can keep the comments on the article itself contained to strictly news reporting, we'd be doing things a lot better, and it'd be easier for people to scroll through comments and see the latest happenings.

Not that we can get everyone to follow that rule, but still.

So here's what I'm getting out of this:

1) someone allegedly sleeps with five guys in exchange for good reviewers of their game.
2) people get mad because they don't like corrupt journalists.
3) the person who did the sleeping with the five journalists assumes people are mad at them and declares open season against said people. journalists aid the game creator by vocalizing their cause.
4) people get angry with game creator.
5) some group makes a game and want a diversity-positive character.
6) people angry with game creator begin supporting game and take several polls deciding the design of the character.
7) game creator feels as though the group was doing it to piss them off and supposedly hacks the kickstarter page.
8) perhaps drunk with power, said game creator goes out and continues the hacking, this time they go after the website where the polls voting on the character design took place.
9) kym reports this shit and more people get angry.
10) these people take the fight to twitter and a few other websites, where it seems to have turned into an all-out war.

Replace this or that person with fictional characters and give them superpowers, and you'd have one crazy-ass movie, provided it's directed well.

GamerGater's reporting for duty.

Wow, at that angle, I don't look half bad!

One thing I've been wondering is what to do once this is over. It has to end at some point. The image gallery will probably need a good scrubbing after that, if it isn't already in need of one now.

Granted, if people like Assange are really determined to take this sort of movement all the way to the top brass of industries, this might never end. Though by that point, calling it GamerGate wouldn't make any sense.

You would need a TV series to adapt this never ending rabbit hole.

I'd like to take the opportunity to remind some people this is still a serious debate thread, meaning serious debate rules still apply. Just because it's GG doesn't mean you get a free pass to fuck around.

@Twenty: My hope was that opening a forum topic would help any serious talk regarding GG would be moved to it, while news reporting would be kept onto the article itself.

Were there anyway to prevent shitposting all over the place, I'd happily advocate for it.

Although more liberal rules would probably apply if this were to become a GG /general/ thread. *cough*suggestion*cough*

I seriously don't know why one wasn't started up before. (not that I'd participate much in it either way.) The GG article has had somewhere around 800% higher activity over the MLP article. Anyways, enjoy the ride.

That requires heavy moderation. Totally up to the mods to decide.
