I've always loved science so i honestly can't remember how

As for video games and anime. My uncle got me into them long ago, when i was like in the 1st grade. Yep he introduced me and my little brother to gundam and dbz and cowboy bebop and it branched off from their. And he got us into video games. like mortal combat and resident evil.

I didn't into comics until like, last year. I always read wikis but never bothered to really read the comics. Then i was just was like 'fuck it' and decided to download some.

Video Games – We used to have a Sega Megadrive

Manga/Anime – Dragonball/DBZ on Toonami (RIP) was my first. However it was only a couple of years ago that I started to read mangas and branch off.

Comic Books – I was a big fan of superhero cartoons. As soon as I could read I went to our local corner shop started getting issues in and I bought and read them ever since.

Archery – I wanted (and still do) to do fencing but their was no clubs local. My mum recommended that I do Archery as there is one close by. I was put on the waiting list and after 5 – 6 months I started. I started about 2 weeks ago.

i blame my younger sister for animu and mango, my school friends for videogames, my dad for music (he always listened to pink floyd, stones, led zeppelin etc. at considerable volumes, i started from that harder rock and metallica and now have arrived at all kinds of metal, plus some music that doesn't have anything to do with my dad's tastes, like some hip-hop and lots of hardcore).

playing guitar kinda came along with my interest in music.

i don't think that this has ever been a big topic in my family. sometimes there was the usual "the government sucks, politics are stupid lel" circlejerk on some family reunion, my dad had a grudge against socialism, which is totally understandable, since he comes from a degenerated workers' state in the warsaw pact and he experienced the "real socialism" there. he is a convinced social-democrat though.
at some point, i started to watch the news at least once daily, 2008 came up, economy as a topic in social science class and that class in general was probably a considerable factor. me and two other people were the only ones who kept up with current events and actually took interest in the lessons, which quite shocked me.
the topic of justice in social science, politics and religion classes and history class with all the changing social structures, governmental forms and especially history from the industrialisation onwards gave me a lot to think about too.

1) I am fascinated by astrophysics because I feel spiritually intertwined with the universe. I'm sure that everyone has the same flame, but I decided to turn mine into a career in science.

2) My love for videogames probably originated from the fact that my dad would let me tinker with his (non-work) computer for half an hour each day when I was a little kid. Since the only game he had was chess, and I didn't know how to operate anything else, it turned me into both a chess enthusiast and a gamer.

3) ♫ ♫ I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me. ♫ ♫

4) I like debating because I have an irrational fear of being wrong. So it's probably more of an immutable character flaw than something learned.

5) I used to be pony hater, back when I was a legit /pol/ Nazi. I decided to give it a spin after I abandoned my previous beliefs, however, and I ended up enjoying it.

Video Games and Nintendo in General- My love of gaming mostly stems from my earliest memories of when I was around 3-4 years of age playing my family's SNES, with games like Earthworm Jim 2, Toy Story, and my personal favorite being Donkey Kong Country. When we upgraded to a Nintendo 64 my mom would usually take me to a rental store each week and I'd rent a game most of the time, with Banjo-Kazooie probably being the most rented. What really got me interested into Nintendo would probably be Super Smash Bros. Melee which introduced me to so many characters I had never seen before and said to myself that one day I will play all of their games. Ever since then I've been mostly a Nintendo gamer along with one other console (PS2, Xbox 360) and my PC for a larger amount of games I can't get on Nintendo systems.
Animation- This is another one that stems from my earliest memories. Like most children I watched a lot of cartoons when I was younger, but unlike my peers who stopped watching cartoons I continued to watch them. Another reason being my life long dream of becoming an animator or just any animation related occupation. Now for anime it came from watching Dragon Ball Z and YuYu Hakusho on Toonami and watching Cowboy Bebop, Case Closed, Full Metal Alchemist, and FLCL. I just loved how cool or crazy the art could be and how it was a continuing story instead of te series witout direct continuity I was used to.
Voice Acting- This mostly comes from some of the acting classes I have taken, as well as an interview I saw from Charle's Martinet when Super Mario Sunshine had came out. As time went on I tried to imitate certain actors, like Charles Martinet's Mario roles, and try to find my own voices I can make as well.

1) Anime: Aside from zoids and Pokemon, I watched very little anime for most of my life. I hated on it quite a lot actually. When Pacific Rim was first announced, everyone was calling it it a rip off of NGE, so I decided to check out NGE to see what the fuss was all about.

2)Dating Sims and Eroge: Believe it or not, I have actually liked this well before I started liking anime. I would play a couple browser hentai games every now and then. Once I started liking anime though, I started playing more and more.

3)Working out: Used to be really skinny in Highschool, just thought I would change that.

1) Video Games: I was like, two or three, just before I moved to Saint Louis. My grandmother bought me a PS2 and with it, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. Needless to say, I was immediately hooked. I got games like Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders, MarioKart Double Dash was at my school, and I ended up being able to beat fully grown adult gamers before long. By the time I was six I was able to play any genre of games; FPS, RPG, Action, Platformer, Cart Racing, you name it, I could play it. The only thing I didn't master was fighting games and even then I was practicing with Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. It wouldn't be until I turned 13 when I learned how to play my first 2D fighting game, BlazBlue Continuum Shift.
I've been a gamer for at least twelve years now… Hopefully I can get into the VGC's or EVO or summat.
2) Drawing: This one directly stemmed from my early days of gaming. I remember sitting in front of my TV, wishing I was playing Spongebob and watching the episode Walking Small. This was a little bit after the movie came out. I remember deciding to draw a lot of the characters doing their episodic activities in an absolutely crappy fashion. But for some deranged reason, I kept at it. I guess it helped me become somewhat brainy, because anytime I had something inspirational pop into my head, I wanted to draw it.
3) Internet: …. I had no other way of listening to video game music, so I used YouTube.
Then depression happened and well… poof. Here I am.

Drawing: I always loved drawing and basically drew throughout my entire life. I started taking it more seriously when I was 11 because I was getting into anime and wanted to draw as well as some of my friends could. And now I'm in the process of changing my hobby into a career.

Anime: Not too hardcore of a hobby these days, but it all started with Toonami when I used to watch it a lot around the time Naruto started airing. Yep, Naruto was my gateway anime.
Western Animation: Obviously watched throughout my childhood, I've gained a real appreciation for this particular media around the time I graduated high school. I particularly love animated movies.

Sewing/cosplaying: I wanted to start cosplaying so I decided to learn to sew. I would do it more if there were more hours in the day, but alas I do not. I tend to go on cosplay-making sprees over my school breaks.

Crocheting: One of my best friends liked to crochet cute dolls with her sisters and she taught me how to do it. It's the perfect hobby to keep my hands busy while I watch let's plays and the like, and it's awesome to make warm cozy stuff to wear during the cold season. I hope to learn knitting too, maybe someday.

Software engineering: I got it from my dad, who at the time was a senior network engineer working for Cisco.
Electronic music: Again, from my dad. He's actually mostly into heavy metal, but got into the tech trance scene around the late 90s. I don't remember if it was this song or that song that I can justly call my "first" electronic song.
High adventure: This one I actually kinda developed on my own. I started going on a bunch of hikes with my friends and family, and before long I was doing them by myself, almost as a way of passing time.

Video Games: I was hooked since I was three. My first video game was Super Mario World, but it was just another playtoy until really the Gamecube Era when I became obsessed with Super Smash Bros Melee, Zelda, and pretty much EVERYTHING in the surrounding universes.

Anime: I've talked about this in length, but Anime to me was like an upgrade to Cartoons. They could play out far more mature content and I was pretty cool with that. I didn't even know they where of Japanese Origin till much later in my life when I joined the internet and ACTUALLY got into them. Thankfully I had some pretty good first impressions with things like Tower of Druaga, Fate, and Fullmetal Alchemist.

Drawing: It spawned from passing notes back and forth during High School. I mainly did it to comic war with my friend. She was pretty good so I was able to use her as my footstool into getting decent. I guess my interest in it re-sparked when I started fulfilling drawing requests for the website since it was kinda a new audience that really appreciated what I could do despite not being that good at the time.

Cosplay: Oddly, I just originally took for granted that you had to Cosplay to a Convention. That was like, 99% of my knowledge about Conventions, you go there to see costumed people and sometimes celebrities. Also, my Step-Sister (who lived in San-Diego at the time) had tickets for Comic-Con so I decided to go with her that day because I had nothing else to do. It was overwhelming but exciting and I wanted to go again some day. I had Kumoricon to help tide me over till I did eventually go. And every time I have gone to a convention besides the First one I have always dressed up.

Gaming: My biggest hobby of all time. I was exposed to games at an early age (as young as 3) thanks to my Dad. As a computer science teacher, he explored video games as a technical fascination way back in those early days. His curiosity in the technology led to giving me tons of games to play (including Doom, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen and Descent). I guess partly because it brought me joy and partly from an observational research perspective. I've been gaming my whole life

DnB: My second largest hobby. I fucking love DnB and I fucking love Trance Techno too. This sort of ties in with Gaming because the only music exposure I ever really had was video game music. Not like my sister or parents played any music, short of my dads acoustic. Besides, I never really cared or bothered with most live bands. I was never into some guy singing when I could blow up zombies to an energizing beat. So I think video games is largely to blame for my strong taste in electronica. For the most part I just listened to vidya OST's. But when I discovered DnB and Dubstep in 2012, I fell in love. It reminded me the most of that vidya music I always listened too. For similar reasons, I fell in love with Trance after that as well

Art/Vectoring: I dunno really. I just like drawing even as a kid. I even took 3 art courses in high school that I didn't need. I started vectoring most actively when I did a practical essay on touch screen interfaces and graphic design software that works best on a touchscreen. I learned about the free tools like GIMP and Inkscape from my research and decided they worked best when I wanted to draw….

MLP: I'm just a natural sucker for adorable things. And I always thought ponies were damn cute. Preceding ponies, I also had a love for things like unicorns, fluffy kittens, Nyan Cat and Furries all because I thought they were cute. When the brone fandom came out I was fascinated , not only by the audacity of grown men liking a girls cartoon and trolling the fuck out of the world with it but also by the fact it was a fandom for cute things I could finally be in. I signed up a year later

Video games: Hoo boy. My dad said I was playing games since before I could walk. I think the earliest I can recall playing a videogame was on a hack of Super Mario on a cheap TV console (South Africa didn't really get exposures to videogames until the PS1, so these plus arcade consoles were my gateway). I got really into it when the PS1 got released, and I've been drawn into it further since I didn't have an interest in people then.

Animation (including a little bit of anime): I grew up watching a lot of old Looney Toons cartoons that my dad got from his dad. This initial exposure made me a little wary of anime when I was introduced to it, but Spirited Away got me interested, but I never really watched anime a lot. Did watch a lot of 90's Saturday morning shows though.

Music: My parents listened to a lot of gospel and soul, so that got me interested in that. My sisters listened to rather violent local rap music and that kinda shied me away from the genre, considering I was young and in retrospect, the raps were really immature. But my real interest in music began when I heard that "The Wall" had been banned from South African radio stations, so I tried my best to get a copy of the album. But I couldn't get one at the time, so I could only get one in 1994. It sounded good but after a while, I gave up on music, due to college. Then when Gorillaz came out, I got interested again in music, and from thereon, I've liked genre-mixing musicians. Can't understand that dubstep stuff though.

Philosophy: It beats sitting around listening to people arguing over food.

I got into retro gaming via the Mario series.
Our household only had Mario Land 2 and Mario Kart Double Dash.

Then I got the chance to pick out a second GCN game.
I remember going through a video game store and seeing a lot of different Mario games. I wondered just how many Mario games there were so I looked it up on the internet, and that's how I learned of the NES/SNES/N64, the latter being still pretty recent but somehow I'd never seen one in my life.
All the different universes in Smash Bros. Melee also helped pique my interest, and from Nintendo I went and learned about different companies and systems.

1. Drawing : Everyone else around me was drawing and i got jealous of them. I also wanted to impress a junior that i had a crush on. After a year i wanted to draw for myself.
2. Gaming : Playing Age of Empires 2 kick that up. Being one of my favorite games of all time, ig ot fascinated in the RTS genre and later started trying out other genres.
3. Manga : The Yugi – Oh! Manga did that for me.
4. Anime : Naruto kickstarted my interest in that.
5. Cartoons : Glorious 90s Cartoon Network!!
6.Religious Studies : This is a funny one. i wanted to get away from difficult religious classes only to go to a school that teaches religion in a philosophical manner rather than the usual indoctrinations.I got fascinated and pursued it further. Now my toleration for people of other beliefs is higher than the majority of kids my age XD

Model railroading? When i was in third grade i got a set for Christmas, and it escalated from there.
Model airplanes? I read about how my favorite author, Roald Dahl, piloted a Hawker Hurricane (fighter plane) in WW2, and i started liking it from then on.

Vidya Games: Well that kinda just happened. I got a GB color and n64 some time around 2nd grade, but I had played the JumpStart games before that.

Ponies: I had seen the threads on that one board on that one chan, but I didn't get into it until my roommate showed me it early 2011. He and I were both big tards, so I assumed it was just for the lulz…[3 1/2 years later]…here I am.

Electronics: I had been in robotics in high school, but once I learned coding in college, my next step became engineering. lol.

The Games: I can't remember how I got my first console in the first place (a Famicom), but I remember playing Super Mario Bros, Battle City and Circus Charlie. After that, the N64 arrived (an age in which I discovered the almighty Turok franchise), and then the PS1, the GCN, the PS2, and the rest.

Comics: My dad bought my first comics. It was all about Marvel back then, but, nowadays, it's not only that, but also DC, Vertigo, IDW, Dynamite, Image, Top Cow, Dark Horse, etc. Big companies, independent companies, it doesn't matter.

MLP: I was looking around in the forums of the old version of GameTrailers and then I spot the ponies. Their artstyle seemed very smooth, so, I looked for information about the show and that was it, I was hooked.

anime/manga i can't really remember my first anime, something about a highschool girl who is a good student, slips/ or gets pushed off idk, falls of a bridge; and while in recovery, she believes she's 6 again; the scene where she is crying about not being allowed in her old school, and nobody remembering her moved me; from then i guess i continued from there.
video games the zelda series are the earliest games i remember, well apart from the homeworld trilogy. maybe something about the games turned be onto video games.
reading books have always been a intrest of mine, i imagined that reading mythology, and textbooks when i was much younger might have contributed.
At first i only liked science fiction; i could never understand fantasy; but it was me reading eragon that gave me a taste for fantasy.
astronomy looking into the sky gives a reassuring since of security for me; and gives me something to look forward to; some of my first memories are of looking into a telescope; and i feel connected to the stars, were stardust after all.
And maybe the science fiction novels i love reading influenced me.

Anime/Manga-
I've actually had a strange fluctuation with my interest in anime. I remember my first few anime being Hikaru no Go (It's quite good, definitely under the radar type of show), Death Note , The Manliest Show Ever , Doraemon (The remake is totally gonna trash the original show), Crayon Shin-chan (Still airing…), and Fullmetal Alchemist I was like 5 back then. Pretty strong stuff I guess.
Video Games-
I remember that my dad played games quite a bit back then. My fear of darkness probably grew from watching my dad play Resident Evil on the PS1. Ahhh, lovely and defnitely not traumatizing memories. I wouldn't mind games like Resident Evil and Amnesia if they didn't scare the shit out of me (I like some of the gameplay Amnesia can offer, such as using darkness and hiding).
NOW TO ADDRESS THE BIG GODAMN ELEPHANT
Dank MayMays-
How the fuck did I encounter memes… I have no idea. I don't even know the first meme I've ever encountered, I probably didn't even know it was one anyway. But, without shame, I'll say that it truly starts from 9gag. Yeah, the site's a shithole, and still is. From there I discovered KYM and reddit, and was on that for probably .5-1 years. I joined KYM a bit later, which I used it to find out about memes. I was highly fascinated about how certain memes can die off in days, and how some survive even to this day, and sometimes how memes can have its usage changed, and took a strange interest in it. From KYM, i learned of the glory horror of 4chan, and I've been there for like 2-3 months (lurking only, /a/ mosty, /b/ never, /v/ sometimes). They probably should start including sound webm and multi-image post.

Astronomy – Blame Carl Sagan
Electronic Music – Blame Vangelis and Carl Sagan
Venus Project – Blame Simcity and Carl Sagan
Simcity – Blame Micro Machines and Lego
Science Fiction – Blame Sir Arthur Clark and Carl Sagan

I was born into and raised on railfanning and a love of trains in general. I got the hobby from my dad and I love to train spot, drive live steam and chase trains.

Writing was always a thing I did as a kid and I just grew to hone in my skills and write more and more. even my fanfictions are staring to look straightforward and good.

Cooking is a family thing that everyone knows, my grandparents, and parents both passed their general knowledge onto me and I just picked it up and ran with it. Although, I did have to crash course myself during the time when my father was in the hospital and my brother and I had to make all the meals. I grew to love experimenting in the kitchen and am actually considering culinary school. I'd be the first int he family after my grandfather to go and actually study the art.

I've been playing video games ever since I was a little kid, back when the GameCube was new. So I have that, a Wii, a Wii U, a couple old game boys, 2 DS's, a 3DS, a PS3, and a PS4. And even the oldest of those are still working. If you combine all games for each system, I must have over 100.

And I decided to embark on guitar playing after years of listening to Metallica and Iron Maiden and playing Guitar Hero. In mid 2012 I thought it'd be a good idea to get an acoustic, so I did. Later in the summer I bought an electric, and for Christmas I got a bass. Now that I'm building up my skill, I'm getting higher quality guitars. I got a Fender P-Bass this past May and I'm getting a Stratocaster soon.

Videogames – I dunno? My dad I think. I always had a videogame around since I remember.

Manga – High school friends got me into Naruto anime, but I quickly found out that reading manga was easier because my internet was fucking slow. From here on out I learned how to be an (elitist bastard) avid manga reader and very rarely do I watch anime.

Roleplaying – Uh… I was searching for wrestling stuff and found about e-feds and decided to join, that was a looong time ago. I also remember I used to RP in a Yugioh! forum, but can't recall what came first. Recently I returned to this hobby (the e-wrestling) and I also RP in a brony forum (even though I haven't watch MLP since season 2)

Papercraft – I'm just seriously poor but like to have figures of things I like.

Music – Dunno if you can consider this a hobby, but I take pleasure in learning new bands and genres and explore new songs, this was something I got slowly, at first I only listened to RHCP, then in high school I was introduced to Metal, grunge and Nu-Metal and after that, when I got to college I started broadening up a bit, specially lately thanks to Spotify.

Video games- Gaming is probably the first thing I've ever known how to do in life as far as I can remember. I still play games up to this day, so without sugar coating it, I think it's fair to say that gaming really is a large part of my life.

Working out- It's the best way to vent out frustration and anger when life throws shit at you imo.

MLP- It's the best way to vent out depression and sadness when life throws shit at you imo.

Boxing- I've always got into a lot of fights when I was young. It took a few years later for me to have turned it into a hobby. One time my dad brought me to a focus mitts session and I got hooked onto it right away. Now I have a membership in a boxing gym and get in the ring there to spar regularly. Been throwing punches for nearly a year now, hope I can keep doing it.

Economics- I'm totally saying this because I really do love learning about graphs and central bank policies and not because I'm forced to otherwise college is going to kick my ass

Philosophy- Being stuck in your own mind and just thinking about these kind of things is fun, you know? Piecing together concepts and ideas, trying to make sense of what real Philosophers believe, coming up with your own theories, etc.

Anime, Manga, and Drawing

I actually got into this hobby rather suddenly.

I was reading a gaming magazine at my friends place, and it happened to have an anime related drawing competition. I just thought that holy shit, that looks so cool, I want to be able to draw like that too.

Then I just found out what exactly this anime/manga is, started watching, drawing, and practicing. That was back in april 2003, and I'm still at it. Though I don't watch as much anime anymore, since I mostly just read manga. Even drawing has been reduced to less and less, especially after I moved to a new home.

Too bad, since I really should draw more.

Hunting -- My father forcibly took me hunting when I was 10, as most males in my immediate family, it was some rite of passage of some sort

Vidya gaems During my brief stay in America, one of my friends had a PS1, and told me to come over and play this game called Metal Gear Solid. It was the first game I ever played, and my favourite game series to date.

Applied PhysicsI took a passion for it during high school, and ever since, i've been trying to get my PhD.

Cartoons in general IM A OLD KID OK
