Jordanian Pilot Burned Alive By ISIS

Apparently beheading doesn't cut it (pun intended) anymore, so ISIS killed this guy in a different way: By burning him alive in a cage, then dropping a ton of debris on his crispy carcass. Media is in an uproar. Video of it is all around the web and I implore you people with the stomach to look it up, and share your thoughts here.

Despite ISIS being purely evil, I think it's really cool how much special effects they placed in the whole video. As for the climax of their little vid (the barbeque fest in the cage, obviously,) it's got a nice, twisted touch of what's supposed to be poetic justice; the man's a pilot and while the media honors him as some sort of martyr, other sources along with ISIS say that he deserved what he got for raining down fire and debris on children in rural villages.

"make the tiger back away by jabbing it with a tiny stick."
perfectly reasonable logic.

All they are doing is pissing people off. If they want it to stop they need to stop. If they know anything about the US is that its willing to make enough bombs to level everything in that entire region to less than an inch high, so why piss something like that off?

US will eventually "kill" ISIS, then a new terrorist organization will show up and piss of the tiger again, and it will continue over and over, till someone grows some brain cells and goes "oh shit, lets not mess with a military focused country, just stay quiet till they go away" or that region has no one left to fight.

BBC analysis calls it an act of information warfare, which IMO is an interesting point to bring up. After all, the only reason that ISIS maintains such a strong social media presence, and makes such a spectacle of these executions, is to grab news headlines and thus achieve the intended goal of terrorism – terror.

I heard on the news radio this morning that this latest escalation to an even more brutal form of murder is likely ISIS's way of compensating for the fact that the West has started to become desensitized to its beheadings. By making their killings more brutal, they will be able to continously reignite the media flame.

Interestingly, the BBC artcle states that the actual killing of the pilot depicted in the video took place on January 3rd, a solid month earlier. This seems to suggest that ISIS isn't just doing these things on the go, but rather that they've got a solid media strategy in place. Chances are that they've brutally killed several more prisoners already, and are waiting for the right moment to release the footage.

I think US raining hellfire on ISIS territory is just what these terrorists want. As much firepower the US has, there is no way it can absolutely wipe out the whole group. From the aftermath of the bombing, ISIS will rise. The collateral damage (villages hit, relatives dead,) will just help ISIS get back on its feet by having more people in their region support its cause. Unless a well-timed maelstrom can conveniently kill all ISIS figureheads huddled up in one place (who knows where they are,) US will have to keep itself from nuclear havoc.

The problem is that a group like ISIS can survive the destruction of their soldiers' physical bodies. No amount of bombing can destroy them. The only way to get rid of these guys for good is to kill their ideology, and killing an ideology is no small task.

They are banking on people standing up to fight with them. however things could go wrong if the US handles it correctly. If they can convince the middle east that by outting ISIS the destruction stops. ISIS brings the bombs to their door steps, the US was already on its way out when they started acting like idiots and then they are like "look, we are being bombed, help us fight the US!".

The problem with using Fear as a tactic, is America isn't run entirely by people who hide from fear, its also got plenty of deranged madmen who just buy a bigger gun when they are afraid. We got senators who would be willing to launch a nuclear strike against the entire middle east because of ISIS. make that entire area completely dead and uninhabitable for thousands of years because they are afraid and an crazy.

if ISIS really wants the death and bombing to stop, they should be trying to get people to stop killing each other. We all know what is going to happen when ISIS threatens the oil industry in that area, especially if the wrong person is in office at the time.
