There’s also GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulator Program). It has many of the same basic features, but is free.

GIMP downloads -- for Windows, Mac, and Linux:

Also check out the awesome GIMPshop, which makes GIMP have a user-interface nearly identical to Photoshop:

Yeah, I’m Adobe certified and used to work as a graphics artist. A laptop of mine that I used at home was stolen, and after I stopped working as an artist, I couldn’t justify the price of Photoshop just for doodling (or favors from friends, which are more common than jobs). So, I found GIMP, and honestly, for most of the jobs people need, it’s more than adequate.

PAINT WORKS JUST AS GOOD AS ALL THE OTHER FREEWARES SUCH AS PHOTOSHOP

I discovered Aviary several months ago when Ellie mentioned it along with 9 other web apps that she used. It is basically Photoshop but free, and has more programs.

@Watcher Yes, both legal and free of viruses (depending on where you get it, of course).

I can’t imagine any more tactful or timely way of saying this.

Instead of making another thread.
I decided to resurface this one.
Anyways
The options we have given to substitute photoshop are
Pixlr
Gimp
Aviary
Paint.net

I do not recomend Gimpshop but…
Gimpshop

I’ve never known that you could get these things… I’d rather use picnik, lol.

Wait, why has this been bumped?
