Well, even with fair use, Youtube has begun to close many Youtube accounts that have been the target of multiple DMCAs and/or copyright claims.
It may be about that.

I'm starting to wonder if Copyright laws nowadays can stay the way they are without some changes, or even if copyright laws should exist at all…

Well some people like to pirate, some people dont, and personally I dont take either side, both sides have got cons, and pros like everything else.

It's less a matter of "being for or against piracy" and more of being able to be free in reusing elements from any other original work for our own projects (the mere essence of memes), as long as it isn't a bare copy of that original work.

So, why prevent them from showing their works for free on websites like Youtube ?
The initial reason for copyright laws is to not steal the work of another person in order to make money out of it.

They don't make money by uploading things on video-sharing sites.

"They don’t make money by uploading things on video-sharing sites."

YouTube makes money off of adverts, so they might be held liable.
