Because, aliens have designed a brilliant plan to send poisons through the air that kill all the birds, so there are plagues of locusts and other farm pests, and the crops shall become overgrown. Then humanity will begin to suffer this horrific end, then the aliens can come in and harvest us as cattle.
Or fireworks and disease, one of the two.

Yessss, it is all going according to plan.
With more people we have more of an affect on the environment, so more birds die from poor disposal of wine.
of course its not always wine, it cold be chemicals, car fumes, god only knows.
