So, you know how Discord said that to find the elements they had to go back to the beginning? I think that there are 3 possibilities to what that means:
1) They have to go to the sites where they saw Dash’s first rainboom and that’s where the elements are.
2) They have to go back to Ponyville where they all first met physically and the elements are there.
3) They have to go to the ancient castle (where Twilight realized that they were the elements and they all were her best friends) and the elements are there.

Or like somepony else was saying, they might be in Canterlot still and they have to go to the beginning of the maze.
