As for real people, this guy:

In World War II, after being hit by mortar fragments in 2 feet of snow (it was also-14 degrees Fahrenheit), the ammo for his weapon ran out. So what did he do? He climbed onto a burning tank destroyer, that could explode at any minute, and used its .50 cal to continue to lay waste on the enemy, while calling down highly accurate artillery fire. He received a further leg wound during this part of the battle, WHICH LASTED OVER AN HOUR, under constant attack from, as his Medal of Honor citation (heehee) says “6 tanks, supported by waves of infantry”. And when his squad’s survivors regrouped, he led a counterattack that forced an enemy withdrawal. He killed over 50 soldiers in that battle, according to the citation. All of the above happened while he had malaria.
A biographical movie, To Hell and Back, was made, in which he asked for parts to be removed because he didn’t think people would believe them.
