Eh, that’s enough.

Pyro was a villager

DOHOHOHO! Okay seriously now.

Pyro emerged from the basement with his flamethrower and stormed through the hotel with vengeance on his mind. With the superheroes out of the way, he felt nothing could stop him.

Pyro torched the walls, the plants and the carpet as he marched towards the hall.

“Everybody run!” Harvey Dent cried out as Pyro burst in on the VIP’s. The panic stricken crowd scattered around the room and Pyro sprayed fire in all directions. Pyro engulfed Dr.meme in flame, then Bruelock and laughed manically atop their incinerated bodies.

Harvey tried to stop the crazed assassin but ended up getting half of his face getting brutally burned.

Harvey would have died then and there, but the two police officers in the Hotel came in and filled Pyro’s torso with lead.

12 bullets later, Pyro collapsed on the ground, the final assassin was dead

As the night fell. The surving VIP’s: Bob (Harvey), Dravatar, Chariot, Jeffery and Douglas all received the most welcome news they have ever heard: The blizzards were finally over and the ice had melted. They could leave the hotel.

Most got out with only minor injuries but Bob had to be pulled away in a stretcher and sent to intensive care for his severe face burns (he would later become Two-Face)

Game Over, Citizens win.

Here’s the game history for day phases:

Game history for night phases:

I want to discuss the next mafia game now. I’m thinking of a Team Fortress 2 theme:

Spahs vs Engies

What do you think?

I’m thinking something like this:

Mafia = Spies

Villagers = Engineers

Sheriff = Pyro

Doctor = Medic

Shaun = Heavy

Gus = Demo

Sentries shall be sapped

I’m also considering a new role. One that helps the mafia identify the special roles faster before they become a threat because in this game the mafia went down pretty quick thanks to Bob being a Sheriff and really being knowing how to use it. In my opinion the mafia need help spotting these special roles before they make the game impossible for them to win.

How it basically works is that the mafia gets their own “sheriff” that is able to reveal the role of a player each night and report back to the mafia. Sort of like a snitch.

This “snitch” role (or “spy” role if you prefer, however if we use a TF2 theme that name is already taken) will be assigned to one player who will work with the 4 or 5 mafia. The snitch is allied with the mafia so if the mafia win, so does the snitch. However if the mafia is killed off, the snitch loses. The villagers don’t need to kill the snitch to win, he isn’t mafia.

The snitch has no say in who dies during the night phase. He can’t kill. All he does during the night phase is PM the name of a player to the narrator, who will then reveal that players role to the snitch.

This role could be useful if we have a lot of players in the game.

I am not decided if the snitch votes should count or not.

What do you guys think?

But with Engies, the mafia get to sap sentries ;) I also considered giving the Villagers the choice to pick any other TF2 class they please so long as it isn’t already taken by a special role.

Sniper sounds like a good name for the Snitch, either that or we can make the Snitch into the Scout

Because the Scout captures the intelligence. In this case the Intelligence is player roles.

yeah, good idea.
Mafia=Spies
Doctor =Medic (Obvious)
Sherrif=Pyro
Shaun=Soldier/heavy (Take your pick)
Gus=Demo
Snitch=Scout
good idea!

I didn’t forget about that Dr.Meme. I was just pointing out that one choice offers more options for my narrative ability than the other. With Engies I can build on their character and traits and use that for narration. But the Civilian has no character.

But I’ll let democracy handle this and allow everyone to vote on what match they think fits best before I decide on anything.

I still want to ask people if they think the Snitch role should be allowed to have counting votes or not. That’s actually a more important subject to discuss.

Should snitch votes count?

Aw man. The TF2 theme is going to screw me over. Everyone’s going to suspect that I’m Pyro and kill me off first. I’d suggest that something different for the mafia and sherrif, like Engie is sherrif and Spy is snitch. (He’d be the best for gathering intel.) But, then the snitch would be able to strike a deal with the mafia and feed them false info (Thus completing the “backstab” concept). I say that the role of mafia is not limited to one specific class, assign classes (Excluding classes that already have a role assigned to that class) before saying if they’re mafia or some other role. Like we assign Dr. Meme the class of Sniper, and the role of mafia, allowing a little variety in the mafia members. And it frees people like me who have names of the classes from suspicion.

Two things.

  1. You came up with this role because Bob was awesome at being Sheriff. But what if we get sucky special roles? Then the mafia gets a huge advantage. Cuz Luis was kinda pointless in his medic role.
  2. The snitch can’t kill, that’s good. But you shouldn’t let him know the role he investigated before the night phase is over. If he investigates someone and discovers he’s sheriff or something, followed by informing his co-mafia. That person is sure to die in an unfair way. Whereas if they discover he’s not a special role, they just leave him alive and go for someone else randomly. This again gives the mafia a bit of a huge advantage.

As for the votes.

Snitch doesn’t count.

Villagers are engies.

If you get terrible people in special roles then too bad, you lose. That’s the way this game rolls.

Who wins and loses in this game has always come down to who is in what role. I cannot alter the rules of the roles to compensate for player experience.

But realize that my motive for this role does not just come from this one game alone. Out of the 7 games we have played, the villagers won 5 times, mafia won only once and there was one DNF.

Pay attention to the fact that the one game where the mafia won was when all the best players were mafia. Villagers have been winning flawlessly ever other time.

Frankly I think this game is slightly bias in favor of villagers, especially as the number of villagers increase. When I played Mafia, we could have won if we found Shaun sooner but we were foiled because we had so many players to sift through and Shaun eventually busted me.

So based upon victory statistics, I think the mafia need an extra role to help them out.

I think I’m going to sit out the next game.

Edit: I’ll think it over a bit.

I think that Snitch is a good role. The mafia has so many disadvantages, and I helped them out in my game so that they could win.

I vote in favour of this new special role.

Also, by ‘them’, do you mean the mafia in the third game?

Yes, I helped them by changing the ratio of mafia to villagers that the mafia needs to win.

Alright since there isn’t any more discussion on this, I’ll assume we have an agreement.

I’m going to host the next mafia game with the following roles:

Mafia = Spies
Doctor = Medic
Sherrif = Pyro
Shaun = Heavy
Gus = Demo
Snitch = Scout
Villagers = Engies

Are we ready for a new game?
