The Helmsman cannot let you do that, but he wants no hostilities.

He explains that he is the only one on or off the ship who is capable of piloting the vast craft. To let you come in and take control all of a sudden would be bananas. He politely offers to follow your direction, seeing no way for things to get any worse, and that DAMNABLE SHAKING AGAIN.
