MDF gave me permission to pick this back up again. If you do not know me, I am the first one to have done this game (to my knowledge) on this forum. It will update considerably faster than MDF’s does; about once a day in the beginning. As with his thread, the first 15 players to sign up will get slots. Anybody after that will be put on reserve for dropouts. You will send private messages via this forum to me to dictate what your nation does.
.
To sign up, fill this out:

Nation Name: (don’t be obscene)
Location: (Coordinates, general location, or the name of an IRL city)
Color: (RGB values or color name, not white, black, or grey)
.
The map I will use is Earth’s. We will start at about 3k BC and progress rather rapidly towards the modern age. Unless you influence them, the other regions of the world will progress rather historically. I won’t give you any hints because I want it to be open ended; as you play you will get the general idea of what works and what doesn’t.

Once I have an appropriate number of players I will post a map and a first turn.

Yeah, I’m sorry for what happened in the last one. The network I use decided to block KYM. (Some do-gooder on campus got us reported for porn…) I can still post on the site using my phone & do my forum moderator functions but if I want to make more complex posts using images and whatnot I need to do it via my laptop, which requires walking a good 15 minutes to the nearest starbucks. So, updating the last RP became kind of difficult.

Some guy apparently got offended by the image Chris posted to the Daily Dose entry. This campus actually blocks porn sites, and seeing as it is a pornographic image…
My campus is just really, really paranoid I guess.

Signups are open until they aren’t.

So go ahead. You’ve missed very little.

Also, there is no format to sending turns to me. However, make sure to follow these rules:
-Include the next turn in the title. Your present PM should read “Nations RP turn 2”
-Do not write way too much
-If you must edit what you wrote, send a new PM with ALL of your actions in it including the edits. i will only read the latest PM from you

No, turn 1 is over. The next PM you send should include the number two somewhere in it.

Commands should be logical. For instance, most of you lack a centralized nation state, so things like standing armies or written law can not be easily done. Your possibilities will expand as you either settle in a farm-favorable region and the population expands, or when you loot and adopt culture and tech from a civilization that already has.

technology is much less important in this than I suppose you remember it being. I want you to focus on the geopolitical and cultural elements; technology will evolve alongside it, based partly around random chance. Besides, ancient peoples did not establish research projects anyway. you need the scientific method, which ancient people had no concept of, and a centralized state capable of funding it, which did not come about until a while after the roman empire fell.

-Egypt is invaded by the Hyksos nomads, and a series of wars weaken the region. However, this also shatters the facade of isolationism, and makes the Egyptians aware of the world around them
-Amorite nomads from Arabia raid Sumer, contributing directly to the downfall of the Ur dynasty. Babylon becomes their capital, and rapidly expands to be the most powerful city state in the region.
-The Indus become dominated by the massive city of Harappa under a rather centralized state.
-The Shang – or Yin – dynasty rises in China.
-The Mayan civilization begins making accurate predictions about the end of the world.

-The tribe moves south along the coast, skirting towards the Gulf of Mexico in search of more fertile lands, leaving a trail of Mohawk settlements in their wake. A few of these settlements are eventually assimilated into the Cherokee and Seminole cultures, but most retain their Mohawk roots.
-Upon reaching the Mississippi river, the population of Crimsonia explodes. Permanent agriculture based economic networks are rapidly established. With no natural barriers in their way, the Mississippi river valley civilization begins to colonize outwards, especially to the east, where there already exists a sizable Mohawk community.

Culture: Ainu
-The tribal shamans are slowly granted more power, and the Ainu of Fasier become more centralized under their rule.
-Shamanic bodyguards made up of the most able warriors are recruited into bullying property away from the landless, encouraging people to settle so that they may be properly taxed.
-A neighboring Ainu tribe is attacked by the shamanic forces. They abandon their nomadic lifestyle, and are eventually integrated into the Fasier people.
-Without metallurgy or a serious farming economy, the people of Fasier have no way or incentive to develop large farming equipment, including the plow.
-Wild foxes are captured, although domestication proves impossible and they are instead used as a supply of fur. The Ainu settle for the dog, a subspecies of the gray wolf, as their domestic companion of choice, which become popular.
.
Megarch

-The Angmans begin to farm in limited amounts, but remain largely based upon their livestock. therefor, most of their farming endeavors are meant for feeding their animals.
-Contact with the eastern chariot riders has resulted in a much more mobile society. Eventually, a schism in Angmans develops between the nomads and the settlers. The nomadic portion adopt the Altaic language of the chariot riders.
-With the increasingly settled nature of the Angmans, they enter the neolithic age, and agriculture becomes more common for it.
.
Molossia
Captain Falcon
Epoch: Neolithic
Lifestyle: Settled Hunter Gatherers
Gov’t: Shamanic Despotism
Culture: Falco-Tupi
-Linguistic properties resembling bird-calls make their way into the Molossian people’s speech. This makes conversation with local tribes more difficult, but the sparsity of population in the region makes this fact largely irrelevant.
-Small animal trapping becomes a popular economic endeavor. Trade of furs and veal for fruits and wood occurs between the Molossians and other southern Tupi tribes.
-During this time period, written language was developed. It is utilized primarily to record the people’s donations to the local patron god, Farukon.
-The Tupi people become more settled in their land, following Mollossian examples.

-Metalworking in copper becomes viable, but is far from being widespread.
-Fifteen seconds into the great search for water and stone tools, the high priests notify their king that the Ganges river flows right by his palace, and its banks are filled with all kinds of stones which are already in use because this is called the neolithic age for a reason.
-The population expands exponentially, and farming communities spring up all along the banks of the Ganges river to the Bay of Bengal.

-The tribe moves west, in search of better things.

-The first wet paddy rice farms come to be, and their popularity sweeps Fasier into a farming era, dominated by settled tribes of agrarian communities. The population expands wildly.

Megarch
Megalolzors
Epoch: Chalcolithic
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Etruscan

-Settlers continue to spread out in Italy, making first contact with the Greeks to their south and Celts to the north.

Captain Falcon
Epoch: Neolithic
Lifestyle: Settled Hunter Gatherers

-Tupi becomes the primary culture as the Falconi language elements become an impediment to communication. As a result, those with stronger language bases in Falconi move south.
-Colonialism spreads the Molossian people south and west, as far as the Falkland Islands.
-One of the first monotheistic religions emerges whenthe legendary Farukon is mandated as not just a patron god, but the only god.
-Written language becomes common among the high priests as the Bibble, a text detailing Farukon’s exploits and demands, is written upon clay tablets.

-Copper is used in extremely limited quantities. Its usage is scattered and infrequent enough that the knowledge of it may disappear altogether.

Man, I’m still way behind. Everyone else is past the bronze age already

This has a lot to do with you being one of the few players with zero contact with other civilizations.
Also, the following four turns will be in chunks of 250 years.

So just a quick question, but to establish trade relations with a player-controlled nation, should you also be contacting the player in control of that nation, and possibly vice-versa? I just want to clear up the necessary procedures is all

Unless they are mercantalists or communists, there is nothing stopping you from trading with their people. As for military alliances between players, they will not be displayed on the map. It is up to you if you want to help somebody else.

-A naval force is developed, but its lack of use means that it falls into disrepair, and the nation’s naval tradition remains far from being sustainable beyond meagre fishing fleets.
