Really? I thought I was doing a poor job so far as history goes. The fall of Rome and the dark ages are my least favorite time periods. In any case, history will not go very nicely according to IRL in Europe and West Asia, mostly because the formation of Rome was screwed by Megarch.

Also,

If I were to make an alliance with a players nation, would I contact the player?

No, military alliances are forged without your permission and you are obliged to assist when they need help. /sarcasm

Yeah that sounds about right.

Consider this: all NPCs are played by me, so in order to forge an alliance with an NPC you must ask ME through PM. How would you go about forming an alliance with somebody that is NOT me?

He didn’t send anything to me for a while, and then the Remans and Gauls busted up his capital.
So yeah.

Alright, I have to ask:

You said the next turns would be 250 years. The Hunnic Empire lasted from 360ish to 460ish to my knowledge, which encompasses one predicted turn. How is the rise and fall of the Huns in one swoop going to affect us?

I may take some liberties with the length of time they stuck around just so they can actually be on the map. As for how it affects you, well, if you are anywhere near them you won’t fare well. The time that passes each turn is decreasing so that such empires won’t rise and fall in one turn.

Had all of you been in a smaller location at game start like, say, Europe, I could have cut down the amount of time that passed each turn earlier, but as it stands to pass time by 50 years per turn this early would get us nowhere; half of you are the only organized state in your region. That would get boring quickly.

7th Turn: 250AD – 500AD

Political Map
Religion Map
The World at Large
-The Huns invade Europe, displacing millions of peoples and destroying entire nations in their wake.
-The Reman Empire collapses due to internal and external pressure. Byzantium claims to be the new capital of the empire.
-A terrible plague devastates west Asia, killing off a third of Byzantium’s population.

Nationitia
Jelly Ann Hiro
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Nomadic Looters
Gov’t: Warband
Culture: Aryan
Faith: Judaism
-The Nationtians, still traditionally tied to their livestock and not the ground they live upon, take to the road once more and move in on Reme’s former capital.
-Egypt is looted. Much gold and treasure is obtained.
-The Reman fleet, abandoned at Carthage, is commandeered and utilized to reach Sicily.
-Reme is sacked, its inhabitants massacred, and its frailer buildings razed to the ground.
-With their recent raids and conquests, Nationitia stands as the political entity with the largest material wealth cache on the Mediteranean.
-Napoli is built up around the ruins of Reme and made the new capital.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of death)
Epoch: Chalcolithic
Lifestyle: Seafaring Traders
Gov’t: Theocratic Noble Republic
Culture: Pama–Nyungan
Faith: Crashtianity
-A republic is formed as a sort of elected monarchy, in which an emperor is regularly selected from among the nation’s wealthiest clergy.
-As a result of northwestern expansion, metal working knowledge has made its way to Syserror. Copper tools are now common.
-Under the new theocratic republic the scriptures of various villages are combined and rewritten to meet their own agenda. The book details the Great Crash, the creation of the world. Common virtues mentioned in the holy writ are communalism and humanitarian ethics.
-Free hats are awarded to the most loyal of the priors and prioresses.
-The punishment for piracy is being set adrift upon your burning craft. “Fire galleys” patrol far and wide in search of disreputable gentlemen to burn.
-The greater size of the island based empire results in increased seafaring and growth of dock-centered cities.
-Indonesian islands prove to be valuable sources of flavorful spices. As Syserror expands into this region, it dominates the spice trade, and all kinds of wealth pour into Canberra from destinations as far as China and India.

Crimsonia
Jolly Crimson Locks
Epoch: Bronze
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Mohawk
Faith: Shamanism
-Alliances are forged with a few of the surrounding tribes.
-Aztec soldiers, armed with little more bits of rocks fastened to clubs of wood, are beaten back quite easily by the bronze weapon wielding Crimsonians. They are not pursued into their territory, and the war comes to an informal end.

Prederia
LiamMayhem
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Celtic
Faith: Brythonism
-An invasion by the Anglos and Saxons from Germania has crippled the nation, although it miraculously holds together.
-Contact with mainlanders results in an advancement to the iron age.
-The antiquated palace despotism is replaced with a hereditary monarchy.
-The concept of knighthood encourages rigid hereditary class placement, pushing Prederia into a feudal system.

Fasier
DarkErmac
Epoch: Bronze
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Ainu
Faith: Shinto
-Technological advances are slow due to the extreme feudal isolationism of the Fasier people. However, bronze working is eventually developed independently.
-Various exotic spices are making their way into the Fasien diet through trade. Due to the rarity of such trade with outsiders, these spices are expensive and hard to come by. Only the wealthy have any access.
-Fasier enters a period of radical population expansion. Cities become larger and more densely populated.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
Culture: Turkic
Faith: Hellenism
-A massive quantity of the populace is either exterminated or displaced by the Hunnic invaders.
-Reman tactics are adopted and successful campaigns against them lead to the capture and sack of Byzantium.
-Captured Reman land is recaptured by the Greek Byzantines once the Huns wipe out half of Angmar.
-The Angmans take refuge in Crimea, where a new city is built founded upon education and theistic devotion towards the ancient Greek pantheon.

Molossia
Captain Falcon
Epoch: Bronze
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Theocratic Despotism
Culture: Falconian
Faith: Farukoism
-The war with the Amazons comes to an abrupt end. The Amazonian nation experiences a succession crisis that tears apart her empire abroad.
-The Falconi once again refuse to peacefully join with the Molossian nation.
-Contact is made with the mighty Incan Empire. They do not seem to care about anything east of the Andes Mountain range.

Seccia
Slappy the Fish
Epoch: Bronze
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
Culture: Nunavik Eskimo
Faith: Shamanism
-The aristocracy bands together near Lake Huron to elect a new king and bring an end to the period of unrest.
-Rumors from far flung fishing outposts say that there are new islands to be settled in the far northeast. Certain ambitious young sailors are asking for a royal charter to establish a colony on one of these islands (Iceland).
-Siege engineering is looked into. Better onagers are developed.
-Colonization into the west has reached its end. Any further lands in that direction must be obtained through conquest, or are too frigid and remote to be settled yet.
-Roads are laid out and paved between the major cities.
-An alliance is forged with the Iroquois.

Cattonian Empire
madcat
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Dravidian
Faith: Hinduism
-The Reman Empire collapses. Land along the Persian gulf is annexed, although the region is difficult to manage from such a distance.
-Expeditions into the Indian ocean have resulted in the discovery of Madagascar and Australia.
-Trade with Pyu strengthens relations with the far eastern nation.

Neonorth
Penz0id
Epoch: Bronze
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Palace Despotism
Culture: Yupik Eskimo
Faith: Weyekism
-Colonies are established on the far sides of the Rocky Mountains. Settlements along valleys and canyons stretch to the other side of the range, and contact is established with the natives there.
-Contact with the far east has resulted in the propagation of bronze technology.
-A rumor is propagating that a great empire, called Crimsonia, has already defeated the Aztecs in the far lands beyond the mountains.
-The Aztecs, although superior in numbers and training, posess extremely inferior technology. Neonord capabilities in swordcraft, archery, and metal working prove to be the critical point in achieving victory.
-Aztec diplomats are offering large sums of gold in exchange for peace. They seem to have an ulterior motive.
-The palace becomes less important than the people who live there. A hereditary monarchy rises to rule.
-A group of stranded sailors claim to be from a vast seafaring empire from across the waves known as Syserror. Their tale becomes wildly popular.
-Belief in an occult force known as the weyekin, the living consciousness of all things in nature, has grown to become an organized religion.

Faith: Celtic Polytheism
-Any and all attempts to do anything are stunted by the Hunnic and Germanic invasions.
-The entire nation’s populace is displaced to western Francia.
-The republic is shattered, and a monarch takes over.
-Attempts to convert to Christianity fail. Christians are not in close proximity to Neopia

-Islam is founded in Arabia, and the devout followers of the prophet Muhammed, blessed be His name, conquer Egypt and Arabia for their god. Their warpath soon leads them into Pagan Europe.

Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Seafaring Traders
Gov’t: Theocratic Noble Republic

-Contact with the Chinese has catapulted the nation into the Iron age. This results in fewer long range vessels being imported from abroad, and more being built in home ports.
-As a result of the scientific revolution brought about by Iron age technology and the collapse of various ancient industries at home, a group of unruly nobles have risen up in a secession effort.

Crimsonia
Jolly Crimson Locks
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism

-Roadworks are constructed into allied territory.
-The Aztecs invade once more. They make it as far as the capital’s walls, and are once again repulsed. The king’s advisors are suggesting that the Aztecs be punished with a mortal wound to their nation.
-A Mohawk king of the Crimsonian dynasty now sits on the Nowotian throne. Crimsonia can press her claims upon the kingdom at any time, and annex the nation outright, but there may be a war. This opportunity will pass quickly.
-Crimsonia enters the iron age.

-Okinawa and the surrounding islands are annexed following Fasien settlement and conquest.
-Isolationism is further encouraged, and what little trade relations the nation had with Korea are severed. The mainlanders start to lose common knowledge of Fasier, and tales that were once known as factual become regarded as myth.
-A larger fleet is commissioned to defend against China, although their increasing isolationist tendencies seem to mirror Fasier’s and they do not appear to be much of a threat at all.

Angmar

-Contact with Crimsonia has led to a spread of the Iron age to Seccia.
-The royal charter is granted, and colonies spring up in Iceland and Greenland.
-Salt is losing its value as food preservation techniques move towards various dehydration methods.
-To suit the needs of far flung fishing colonies across the Hudson bay and in Iceland, larger ships are constructed.

Cattonian Empire
madcat
Epoch: Iron
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
Culture: Dravidian

-An exploratory fleet to Madagascar finds that a few small fishing villages exist, operated by Malayans and Pama-Nyungan natives.

-Buddhism becomes the dominant religion.

Neonorth

-In the new buffer zone captured along the Aztec border, a series of fortification eforts are installed. The entire economy of the region is geared towards the military, and settlers in western Mexico are primarily from military families.

9th Turn: 750AD – 1000AD

Political Map
Religion Map
Culture Map
The World at Large
-Gunpowder, an “invention” derived from the random mixtures of alchemists, has found a use in Falconi war through canonry. The Incans quickly adopt the invention, and go on to create rockets. The mixture is also developed independently in China by monks seeking an elixir for immortality, and they too waste little time weaponizing the miraculous powder.
-With all nations in the iron age and separate maps for faith and culture, the epoch, culture, and faith categories from your nation descriptions have been removed. From now on, the religion in your capital is your nation’s official religion. You can change this at any time.

Nationitia
Jelly Ann Hiro
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-A new, better organized army is put together based around ancient tactics.
-The kingdom settles in upon their land, and a feudal monarchy arises.
-Landfall is made in Tunisia, although very little land is actually captured.
-With the collapse of the Muslim Caliphate, Nationitia is now only at war with Algiers.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of death)
Lifestyle: Seafaring Traders
Gov’t: Theocratic Noble Republic
-The unruly nobles are excommunicated as heretics, and they are executed on sight by fire ships. Syserrene dominance of the waves prevents the nobles from making any military progress on landmasses they do not already control influence on.
-China refuses Syserror’s diplomats due to their isolationist attitudes, and the Malayan states are too involved in piracy to care about a few insubordinate nobles.
-Larger vessels are constructed, and trade contact with the Incans is made. The Galapagos becomes a major trade outpost. Socorro is also settled, and irregular trade opens with the Neonords and Aztecs.
-Various and diverse academics are being adopted from foreigners, in particular the Dravidians and the Chinese.

Crimsonia
Jolly Crimson Locks
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Crimsonia pushes her claims on Nowote, and following a brief skirmish, the nation is successfully integrated. The Shawnee take issue with this, and sever their alliance with Crimsonia.
-Crimson soldiers march against the Aztecs. This time, however, they find the Aztecs wielding significantly advanced weaponry, the knowledge of which was no doubt looted from Crimson lands.
-A massive Aztec army is surrounded and annihilated in northern Iowa. Captured soldiers attempt mass suicide. Very few prisoners remain.
-the Aztecs are forced to put an end to their wars in the south to concentrate on Crimsonia’s counterattack. The Incans send their thanks.

Prederia
LiamMayhem
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Caledonia refuses Prederia’s generous offer of being removed from the map. As punishment, war is declared upon them.
-The concept of “conscription” does not go down well with the nobles, who prefer to raise their own armies without the king meddling in their affairs.

Fasier
DarkErmac
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Education becomes more important to the Fasien people. Chinese script is phased out for a new system of Ainu characters.
-Chinese martial arts are adopted from the natives of Okinawa. It is known as “karate.”
-Attempts by the shogun to seize military power from the daimyos is met with hostility. A suspiciously large army is put together via conscription in kyoto, and a cold-war arms race ensues between the shogun and his subordinate daimyos.
-Spices imported via trade are planted and grown in whatever soils will hold them. The climate is not very supportive, and in general they remain wildly expensive.
-Fasier makes its way into the iron age.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-Merchants are now permitted to leave for black sea trade. Friendly relations with the Byzantines opens up the Bosporus for the first time in centuries; Angmar now has access to the Mediteranean.
-Religious discrimination is outlawed. This promotes the spread of monotheistic religions, particularly Christianity.

Molossia
Captain Falcon
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Theocratic Monarchial Despotism
-Continued efforts to force the two houses of Molossia and Falconi together have failed. A diplomatic dispute arises, and the Falconi respond with open hostilities. War is declared.
-Gunpowder, long known but little used, is being utilized by the Falconi in their war. Castles and fortifications fall like stacks of cards.
-Iron smelting is discovered.

Seccia
Slappy the Fish
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-Fishing sailors from Iceland confirm that the rumors are true: the world is round! Far across the eastern seas, a land ruled by the Neonords has been discovered! Little do they know that these vikings are actually just regular Nords, and the world is much larger than they suspect.
-Cree is invaded, following their refusal to fall under Seccian subjugation willingly. However, they are more than willing to cooperate once made aware of the savagery of the approaching Aztecs to their south.
-Plumbing systems are being pioneered in the major cities, especially those which are coastal or run by flowing rivers.
-Northwestern borders are formalized.

Cattonian Empire
madcat
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Fortifications along the caliphate’s borders are constructed. The Aryan armies are defeated and removed, and the collapse of the Muslim Caliphate into separate smaller states puts an end to their invasion.
-Madagascar is claimed for the empire.
-Trade relations with Tibet are hindered by the existence of some fairly tall mountains.

Neonorth
Penz0id
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Neonordic armies move westward, conquering and incorporating tribal nations into the greater whole of Neonorth. Fearing the onslaught of the Aztecs to their south, many tribes give in to the Neonords without a fight, hoping for protection for their people.
-Weyekin shamans spread the faith into newly incorporated lands.
-Contact with Seccia has resulted in the spread of the Iron age to the west.
-Attempts to establish a semi-anarchic reign over the midwest has failed; generally, these regions will not cooperate without the protection of Neonorth’s armies and benefits from her laws.
-the very ancient system of palace despotism has been replaced with a monarchy. Finally.
-Northeastern borders are formalized.

Neopia
FudgeGruck
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-The Muslim Caliphate does not make it far into Neopian territory before they collapse into a succession crisis. However, they have left behind the rather powerful Islamic state of Cordoba in their wake.
-Islam is still spreading into Europe, despite the lack of a unified Caliphate. This may have a lot to do with the decentralized nature of Celtic Paganism making it too easy for monotheists to convince the locals of the truth in their unified scripture.
-Attepts to ally with Prederia are met with silence, because Prederia is not an NPC. Yet.

Dec 22, 2012 at 03:29PM EST

Here’s a couple of notes:
I have decided that the next six turns will be in sets of 125 years, up to 1750. The industrial revolution will start the next turn after that, during which you will begin to research Victorian technologies with state funded projects. I will stop recording the Christian calendar year per turn after then too, since the world will be fully out of synch with the original timeline, and technological developments will thereafter depend upon what you want to develop, rather than history and random chance.
.
Furthermore, Mongolia will be the last “instant empire” that makes an appearance on the map. I posted a picture of our glorious leader a little ways up there. His empire will show up on turn 11, and collapse into independent khanates on turn 12. After that, you can probably focus on expanding into Asia without encountering anything extremely dangerous.

Signups are open until they aren’t.

The only limit I put on it is fifteen consecutive players, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Feel free to join as a nation that already exists, being that all of the good land has been taken.

In that case, I’ll take Sweden.

10th Turn: 1000AD – 1125AD

Political Map
Religion Map
The World at Large
-Brythonism is unified under a single goddess: Britannia. The faith is now characterized by a devotion to the British islands and the goddess personification of them.
-Imams and missionaries spread across Europe like a plague, racing to convert the pagans to their faith. Islam makes significant progress into Germania, while Christianity is working its way through the Balkans.
-His Holiness, the Pope in Constantinople, has called a crusade against the Cattonian Empire to reclaim lost Christian lands and lives.

Nationitia
Jelly Ann Hiro
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Nationitia becomes a major global political entity. Or so they say.
-The war with Algiers comes to a close. Tunisia is annexed. The local populace is enslaved.
-Sailors explore about the coasts of western Africa. Attempts to make landfall in significant numbers results in malaria. The Canarias, however, are rather habitable, and become colonized.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of death)
Lifestyle: Seafaring Traders
Gov’t: Theocratic Noble Republic
-Indonesian piracy has corrupted the trade lanes with Asia to the point that it is threatening the integrity of the entire national economy. Corrupt nobles and bureaucrats have been found to be paying these pirates extortion money, rather than report them to the fire patrols.
-An armed force of inquisitors sail forth across the empire in search of heresy to purge from the most holy waters of serene Syserror.
-A growing dichotomy in naval purpose – merchant versus messenger – results in Syserrene ships being either massive and slow or small and rapid. There is very little middle ground for long-voyage ships.
-Gifts are sent to the Chinese to encourage them to open up their borders again. They are not impressed.
-Coastal fortifications in Indonesia succeed in warding off pirate raids near ports, but in the open ocean there is no law, and the issue continues.
-Those under the tyrannical rule of the heretic nobles are offered salvation should they revolt against their masters. This succeeds in swaying the local populace, and they aid the invading loyalists wherever possible.
-Gold, gunpowder weapons, and metal crafts are imported from Inca in exchange for spices, tea, and Chinese ceramics.

Crimsonia
Jolly Crimson Locks
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Shawnee declares war, demanding that the balance of power be restored, and Nowote be released as a sovereign kingdom.
-The war on Aztec is successful, and Crimsonians manage to make their way across Texas. Crimsonia refurbishes its armies with weapons specifically made to counter Aztec tactics.
-The Aztecs offer to surrender, with the terms being Crimsonian annexation of all presently occupied territories south of the 40th parallel.
-Limited usage of canons by the Aztecs is seen, but it is not enough yet to turn the tide of any battle, let alone the war.

Prederia
LiamMayhem
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Farmers are encouraged to make more food. They continue to make however much they need, though.
-A new fleet is constructed.
-Nobles and peasants alike are outraged that foreign savages from across the sea occupy sacred Britannic lands! The national priory demands that a crusade should be launched for Hibernia immediately, lest the goddess forsake her people.

Fasier
DarkErmac
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-The crossbow was “invented” some 1500 years ago.
-Ainu yearning for gunpowder will not bring knowledge of the stuff to the island. Isolationism and the feudal system must be shaken or ended to bring the islands into contact with the rest of the world.
-Military power is transferred back to the daimyos, which makes them rather happy.
-Hokkaido’s population has grown enough to have sizable cities and civilized peoples. The region is brought under the sway of Fasier.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-The official religion is declared Christianity. Although freedom of religion is still widely supported, the majority of the nation’s populace quickly converts.
-Canals are widened and/or built anew in major cities as part of a grand sewage system.
-A public schooling initiative starts up, funded by the nation’s elite. Non-slave, non-peasant children ages eight to ten find themselves forcibly enrolled in basic education. This endeavor does wonders for the national economy, and more people are selecting intellectual or financial pursuits as careers.
-An attempt to move a fleet through Byzantine waters is initially rebuffed, until news of the nation’s conversion reaches Constantinople. “Our christian brothers” are allowed to march and sail straight through the city.
-Crete and Cyprus are seized.

Molossia
Captain Falcon
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Theocratic Monarchial Despotism
-Gunpowder weapons have become a common necessity of war. Castles and forts, on the other hand, are almost entirely abandoned as canons make them too easy to destroy.
-The war starts to turn in Molossia’s favor after the assassination of several key political and military leaders. Falconi bodyguards become larger and better equipped; such a scheme is not likely to work again.
-The Incans and Amazons refuse to send aid, being that they are still recovering from the Aztec invasions of their own countries.

Seccia
Slappy the Fish
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-Sailors sent towards South America are never heard from again. They might have been murdered by the Aztecs, or Amazoni pirates.
-A military expedition is sent into Scotland. it fails to find any weaknesses or opportunities, so the conquistadors in question move to Hibernia and seize the capital there, with total and complete disregard for local authorities.
-A judicial system, already in place for centuries, is augmented with more judges.
-Stickball sports are developed, including the glorious hockey. The hockey becomes so glorious that some people think it should be prime minister, but the hockey is too modest for that kind of attention.

Cattonian Empire
madcat
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-Royal ties with Harappa have led to a personal union. The Cattonian monarchy now controls both nations.
-The combined manpower of Cattonia and Harappa is astronomical. With the mighty financial industries of both nations combined, an army possibly numbering in the millions is armed and armored with iron weapons, and furnished with cavalry and the greatest military minds of both kingdoms.
-With their unified fighting force organized, Cattonia sends its armies westward, and conquers the whole of Palmyra’s empire in a single campaign.
-Enraged with the Dravidian conquest of ancient holy Christian cities and sacred lands, Persia, Armenia, and Byzantium declare war.
-An outbreak of malaria, combined with an attack by Malayan pirates, wipes out the Madagascar colonies. The surrounding islands, however, are more hospitable.

Neonorth
Penz0id
Lifestyle: Farmers
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-War is made upon the Aztecs. They, being captured by surprise, are forced to flee southwards.
-Neonordic merchants start to make great explorations of the Pacific, aided in part by Syserrene knowledge of the islands.
-Syserrene merchants are funded heavily, and a healthy string of trade routes across the ocean are developed.
-The Aztecs offer to surrender all territory north of the 40th parallel as arrangements for a peace treaty.

Neopia
FudgeGruck
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Constitutional Monarchy
-War is made with Cordoba. The enemy enlists the aid of the local Muslim population, who are more than supportive of the occupation.
-Attempts are made to persecute the Muslims in southern Francia. They only have marginal success; invading Iberians have made the struggle a difficult one to overcome.
-Attempts to trade with the Goths is met with hostility. They refuse Neopian merchants to their markets and ports so long as they remain on a crusade against Cordoba.
-Naval exploration is stunted by the war with Cordoba.
-The terrain separating the emirate from Neopia – oceans and mountains – has made combat slow, dangerous, and extremely costly. There are massive death tolls on both sides.
-A parliament is established to separate the king from a majority of his power. This makes the war difficult to manage, as now all decisions must pass through more than one man and the complete restructuring of government in the middle of a major conflict does no favors for the nation either.

Medicea
RocketPropelledPanda
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchial Despotism
-A new “religion” is thought up by the more crafty nobles called HardWorkanism. Nobody is falling for that.
-Beer brewing becomes a popular national pastime, and doubles as an ingenious way to consume liquids that are not filled with dangerous bacteria and parasites.
-Black Sea trade with the Byzantines prompts a growth of national wealth.

Well I hope that we can get something working there. As for the rest of you, I’d really like to open a Mediterranean-wide exchange with everyone.

@Madcat

I’ve opened my ports to you already since some nations [cough]china[cough] don’t understand the importance of international trade relations so trade away. Help me secure the Indonesian trade routes and we should have a strong fuel line between us.

I could use some of your advanced tech, I’m also trying to reduce my dependence on fishing. send me imperial age weaponry and livestock. I can give you my ship tech.

My gunpower comes from the Inca’s, I don’t produce it myself. Not sure how much of it I can trade at this point.

11th Turn: 1125AD – 1250AD

Political Map
Religion Map
The World at Large
-The Mongols, under the leadership of Genghis Khan, utilize advanced mobility tactics and gunpowder weapons to conquer most of Asia and Europe.
-Christianity is adopted by the Great Khan, who spreads the faith by funding missionaries to all corners of his empire.
-The Black Plague, indigenous to Yunnan in China, is exposed to the rest of the world by Mongol conquests. China, central Asia, and Western India are already stricken with the terrible disease.

Nationitia
Jelly Ann Hiro
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-An alliance with Gothica is formed.
-Nationitians slowly move onto Gothic land. Gothica responds: “What are you doing. Stop that.” and terminates the alliance.
-Few other people are willing to trust the Nationitians, so no more alliance proposals are successful. At the same time, nobody really wants to invade either due to preoccupation with the Mongols.
-Trade with neighboring nations goes very well. Nationitia’s ancient stockpiles of wealth permit her to purchase great merchant fleets, and her position in the middle of the Mediterranean is a significant boon as well.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of death)
Lifestyle: Seafaring Traders
Gov’t: Theocratic Constitutional Republic
-Increased naval patrols in Indonesia results in increased opportunities for corruption.
-Mongol invasions of Indochina results in a sharp decline in Malayan piracy. The trade lanes are mostly open for now.
-The fleet is expanded, with scores of ancient trees felled to provide for it. The cleared land is thereafter used as farmland.
-A mandatory public schooling initiative is attempted, and fails. The poor do not have enough money to afford schooling, nor would they have any use for an education if they did. The wealthy appreciate the concern, but their children already go to school without it being demanded of them.
-The nobility in defecting regions are disposed of, and replaced with elected governors. This sets a national trend, and the aristocracy rapidly loses power to the bureaucracy.

Crimsonia
Jolly Crimson Locks
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-Peace is made with the Aztecs, whom are warned against ever transgressing upon Crimson lands again.
-The Aztec Empire is humbled by their defeat, and the high priests officially put an end to the global crusade.
-Most of Crimsonia’s forces are now concentrated upon Shawnee, who are crippled in the effort of defense. However, Shawnee borders are respected and never crossed during the confrontation.

Prederia
LiamMayhem
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-Conscription is ended, and the aristocracy is pleased.
-The crusade to Hibernia is given the green light, and hordes of devout peasants storm across the channel to capture the island.

Fasier
DarkErmac
Lifestyle: Capitalism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-Fasier officially opens its borders to foreigners. This made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. Nonetheless, it prompts a sudden trade revival, and massive sums of cash flow into Fasier.
-Nagasaki quickly grows to become the nation’s largest city, eclipsing the size of the next three largest added together.
-Daimyos start to recruit explorers to spread Fasien influence to new islands. Taiwan, falling out of the grasp of Chinese control, is seized.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-The whole of Angmar is sacked by the Mongols, with the singular exception of Crimea. It seems that the Angmen who fled there during the Hunnic invasions developed a series of innovations for building in the coastal lagoons, in much the same way that the Venetians did. The Mongols find these cities nearly impossible to breach with their tactics, and they leave the peninsula for greener, more easily conquered pastures.
-Following the sack of Angmar, thousands of Angmen flee to the major lagoon cities in Crimea, leading to a significant population and infrastructure growth of this region.
-All of the surrounding nations have had their military and industry wrecked by invaders, but Angmar remains relatively unscathed in her most populous region. The Angman princes agree that now would be an excellent time to take advantage of Angmar’s neighbors, before they can rebuild.
-Mongol armies retreat eastward after the challenge of Dravidia lures them into invading Cattonia in full force. They leave behind various gunpowder weapons and industries, and Angmar adopts these things into her military.

Molossia
Captain Falcon
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-The Falconi capital is captured, and the nation capitulates. Among the things looted are gunpowder weapon industries, which are incorporated fully into the nation’s military
-The theocracy gradually loses its power until only the king holds sway over the nation’s laws.

Seccia
Slappy the Fish
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Noble Republic
-The government in Ireland is massacred by Crusaders, who overwhelm the local garrison there.
-A naval invasion force attempts to assault London. They are warded off by Prederia’s superior numbers, both on the sea and on land. A minor skirmish ensues regardless, and the fleet is forced to land in Galicia.
-Cordoba is extremely suspicious of the massive contingent of unknown strangers on their shores.

Cattonian Empire
madcat
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-The Mongols invade recently conquered Persia. The allure of Dravidia’s wealth and the challenge of her mighty armies draws the Great Khan’s attention, leading to a rather weak control over Europe. it has also led to their invasion of Indochina, so that Dravidia may be surrounded on all sides by the Mongol horde.
-Byzantine armies make significant advances into west Asia while Cattonia’s armies are distracted by the Mongols.
-Mongol soldiers on the eastern front are stricken with a terrible plague, and are dropping like flies. The plague soon spreads to conquered provinces, and even ahead of their armies. Entire cities are dying out.
-Incan gunpowder weapons, imported at outrageous costs from Syserror, prove to be significantly more colorful and exotic than Mongol weapons.
-War elephants toting hundreds of small artillery rockets, small cannons, and arabesques are fielded for battle. Expensive and impractical, but completely devastating to enemy morale.

Neonorth
Penz0id
Lifestyle: Patrician Elitism
Gov’t: Constitutional Monarchy
-The royal family gives a portion of its power away to an elected parliament. With a new judicial system in place, an organized labor force of prisoner slaves is put to work.
-The Aztec treaty is refused. With troops released from the Crimsonian front, they manage to push into NeoNordic lands.
-Aztec soldiers are utilizing cannons more frequently. Neonordic strongholds are not capable of withstanding the attack, and the fortified zones in Mexico fall.
-With Aztecs moving closer to the most densely populated regions of the empire and the war having lasted so long, many nobles are protesting that the war should be brought to an immediate end.
-Gunpowder is experimented with, and some forms of cannons are imported from Syserror. However, they are far from becoming standard siege equipment.
-Pan-American trade routes expand to stretch from coast to coast.
-Another Aztec treaty reaches Vancouver. This time, they propose that each side simply annex the lands they presently occupy.

Neopia
FudgeGruck
Lifestyle: Chaos
Gov’t: Anarchy
-Peace is established with the Emirate.
-The monarch is dissolved… in a vat of acid. Jesus Christ.
-With no monarch, the feudal system collapses, and Neopia is thrown into chaos. Mass executions occur as various noblemen strive for the throne, and eventually the plebeians have had their fill of the nobility. Commoners raid manor houses, and the aristocracy is slaughtered. Those who survive only do so by virtue of being on vacation.
-With the people now in charge of business, the nation officially converts to Islam.
-Cape Verde is colonized.

Medicea
RocketPropelledPanda
Lifestyle: Chaos
Gov’t: Totalitarian Monarchy
-The nobility is removed via executions and banishment. This results very quickly in a civil war, pitching the noble loyalists against the king’s revolutionaries.
-The Mongols invade, and the fractionated nation is decimated. On the bright side, the king won his war, and a new totalitarian government is established with a single ruler controlling every single aspect of the nation. What’s left of the nation, at any rate.
-The Monarch begins making personal visits around the nation so as to seem like a warmer leader and to rally more support from the people.

Sweden
Vlad
Lifestyle: Feudalism
Gov’t: Monarchical Despotism
-Knowledge of gunpowder from the far east reaches Sweden through trade with Poland, which was recently conquered by the Mongols, who brought the stuff to Europe.
-Expansion into Scandinavia – and particularly Finland – continues.
