No, this was a fast forward not a setback. Technology is no longer a big thing, though, so far as gameplay goes. Your main concern now should be conquest, colonization, and trade. Do not attempt research anymore. I cannot handle keeping track of multiple independent projects for twenty nations.

So far as the setting goes, understand this: your people have in-depth knowledge of all technologies existing in the modern era, but they cannot possibly duplicate them on a large scale with the current state of the world economy. The best they can manage is pre-industrial stuff. Muskets, horse drawn buggies, sail-ships, etc. are common while radios, machine guns, automobiles, etc. are insanely expensive and thus uncommon.

Your nation is condemned to be bad on these grounds;

A) Your nation has concentration camps for those unfit to be part of the master race.
B) The name sounds suspiciously like Aryia, the Aryan nation.
C) No Boats.
D) Boat cannot fly.

We do not have concentration camps. The only nearest thing we have are twin experimentation centers. And, those are closer to hospitals than they are to concentration camps. Nobody is killed on purpose in Aeriya. We don’t even kill the people that we conquer. We dedicate their live bodies to science. Plus, the killings that happen by random psychopaths are called ‘accidents’, because such degenerate people are animals. We don’t even kill these animals, we dedicate their live bodies to science, but with some precautions.

You were speaking about the name, Aeriya. Can’t someone be proud of their genetic heritage?

“Nobody is killed on purpose”
-Various unspeakable crimes against humanity are committed, in the name of science and the master race.
-Protestors against the eugenics program are mutilated in such a way that they cannot speak out against the regime again. A few are kidnapped and used as human subjects in experimentation.

Yep, I guess those were all just tragic accidents perpetrated by the random psychopaths running Aeriya.

Well I was fine with you if you were killing people, but this whole “torment the masses because I want one single gene pool” is just a strange obsession that doesn’t sit well with me. So, fecitque malum omnibus I suppose.

Syndiquil labeled you as “National Socialist” which need not be the same thing as “Nazi”. Socialism comes in a variety of forms, many of them quite good.

Most of the players find your government’s eugenics program distasteful, and I would advise you to 1) correct any misunderstandings regarding the program and 2) if people still don’t like it after they understand properly, decide whether you’re going to change to please them or just

Seriously, you’re not likely to argue someone out of their moral distaste, and as one my favorite authors once pointed out, if you keep having to explain why your actions are perfectly acceptable, it’s probably because you know in your heart they’re not.

This is just advice, not criticism of the Aeriyan regime, since in theory, Sagarmatha doesn’t even know you exist.

Unless you guys know something from larger context that I’m unaware of, not only does Aeriyan =/= Aryan, but even if it did, that doesn’t immediately equate to evil. If you’re going to hate on Aeriya, I hope it’s because of their actions and not simply their name.

I’m wanting a small territory above the trade routes for mining, food and electricity above the trade routes. My area is a wasteland (seriously) with not very much food, so I hope I can have a settlement or a city at least north of the T.G.C. Any new minerals and rocks would be traded in the hub of the place, so people who trade with me will have wealth and ores.

No military production is allowed in that settlement, so I won’t harm you if you don’t harm me. Just peasants.
Is this okay? North America bros?’

I’m also sending coal, silver, various tough metals and a bit of gold in the main center of the T.G.C if anyone is interested in trading fuel, mixes of other metals and foodstuffs.

I just wanted to make sure I understood the new guidelines on technology. If I wanted to develop a public rail transit system (which I do), do I say that I’m researching that sort of tech, or am I supposed to have my government support and “fund” such projects? (I put “fund” in quotes because as a true anarcho-communist society (and please use a lower-case ‘c’, because it makes a difference) we don’t have currency, although I’m curious what effect this will have when we eventually deal in international trade.)

Also, I’m just going to assume that my recent expansion into territory of the former nation of Uighuristan means a more culturally diverse populace, with both the pros and cons that come from that. Am I over-analyzing?

Winter 2150-2151

Map

Kickassia
Captain Douglas J Falcon
Government: Theocratic Republic
Military: Basic, Massive Conscription
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age
-Frontier communities expand their farms and plantations into new lands to the north.
-Open trade with Marmota begins.
-A state religion is established in which the worship of the Blood God Armok is emphasized.
-Military conscription is initiated, enlisting everybody between the age of 21 to 30 in the armed forces.
-As a result of the nation’s huge conscription, the army has swelled in manpower beyond what funding can provide for, and quality has decreased.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age
-Trade is opened with the North Africans and Italy. Alliance proposals are made but rejected, with both states assuring Angmar that they will not get involved in warfare.
-A city state on the Black Sea is convinced to peacefully unify with Angmar for national benefits.
-Continued federal support for education is declared. Scholarships, in particular, drive young adults to continue their education into college.

The Wastelands
Weasel
Government: Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-A very small independent settlement is made north of the Glacier Community. It is very soon connected to the main trade routes in the region, being that there are few natural resources to be found apart from ice.
-Coal mining is encouraged in order to phase out biofuels as a source of warmth. Excess is sold through T.G.C. for gold.
-The production of electricity drives the need for coal up even further, although in general electrical grids are sparse and only connected to wealth residences.

Syserror
Blue Screen (of Death)
Government: Constitutional Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average

-Open trade is declared with Konigsburg, Switzerland, and Italy.

-Black sea fishing and agriculture is also funded, expanding farmland into the east.
-Surplus materials, especially food, is exported. Labor is also outsourced as much as possible.
-The Affordable House Act is passed, assuring homes for everyone.

Otak Empire
Sir Crona Orunitia Equire
Government: Corporate Overlordship

-State policies are pushing the nation to adopt Industrial Age innovations.
-Electrical grids are ever-so-slowly coming online in the wealthier regions.

Eggman Empire
Dr. Ivo Robotnik

Crouching Sloth
Government: Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average

-Trade is established with the Eggman Empire.
-The whole of Greenland is claimed for Leninland.

-Naval expeditions are sent out to claim the Cape Verde Isles, Ascension, and St. Helena.

Sagarmatha
Brucker
Government: Anarcho-Communist People’s Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-A national freight rail system is being constructed. It has already become evident that coal will need to be acquired through trade or conquest, as mining operations on the glacier are not feasible.
-The movement from traditional agriculture to hydroponics is expected to vastly boost the nation’s ability to produce food on the glacier and in the mountains.
-A major settlement has been successfully established in the Bay of Bengal. Settlers flock to it from the frigid Himalayas, causing the new town to quickly swell in size.

Map

Kickassia
Captain Douglas J Falcon
Government: Theocratic Despotism
Military: Basic, Massive Conscription
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-The republic is revoked, and the priests take direct control of the nation. Protestors and heretics are violently put down.
-More funding goes towards the military, and an industrial complex is established primarily around producing higher grade materiel.
-Land expansion continued, directed towards and around neutral city states, which are voicing concerns about the Kickassian theocracy encroaching on their lands.

Angmar
Cale the Witch King of Cats
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Rails are being laid between cities, slowly expanding the speed in which goods are traded.
-The maritime industry is subsidized with low interest loans. Shipping companies see profits soar.
-Trade is established with Iberia, Aeriya, and the Swiss.
-Palestine and Syria are occupied with much force.
-The holy land is now occupied by the righteous Orthodox Greeks, and there is much rejoicing.

The Wastelands
Weasel
Government: Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Electrical heating is proposed by the government, but is trumped significantly so far as costs go by heating coal in the fireplace. Fortunately, coal is abundant and access to it is only growing easier by the day.
-Kamchatka is annexed.
-Expansion of the Manitoba colony stagnates due to harsh weather conditions and a lack of unique natural resources in the area.
-Automobile production is promoted through government subsidies.

Otak Empire
Sir Crona Orunitia Equire
Government: Corporate Overlordship
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age
-Military forces ocuppy Okinawa. Secretly.
-Telegraph lines start cropping up between cities. Stop. Usage of the telegraph is encouraged by the government. Full stop.
-The board of directors is “diversified” and more liberal ideas are now being accepted, including the establishment of public services funded by the central government such as hospitals and schools and telegraph lines.

Not Soviet Russia
404 user not found
Government: Socialist Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Open trade agreements with Finland are reached.
-Farming is subsidized, especially in new lands, encouraging rapid frontier expansion to the east towards less frigid lands.
-Funding for industrial projects, especially those involving infrastructure, continue. Railways stretching eastwards further promote frontier farming.

Eggman Empire
Dr. Ivo Robotnik
Government: Monarchy
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age
-Military conscription begins, requiring all healthy young men to join the army for at least one year of their life.
-Economic growth is pointed towards the military, especially the infantry. More firearms are demanded for the new recruits.
-Mining projects in the Appalachian mountains are made.
-Public education is given much funding for youths.

Aeriya
Iran
Government: National Socialist Despotism
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-South eastward expansion is made, and new territories are occupied.
-Trade is established with Sagarmatha, although it is difficult to maintain profitably due to rough terrain on the routes.
-Railway projects are initiated with the intention of eventually connecting Sagarmatha and Zyrgonia to Aeriya in one single rail network.
-Factories start-ups are funded.

Leninland
Crouching Sloth
Government: Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Trade through the Glacier Community demands more coal from the Wastelands.
-Iceland’s natives are approached and intimidated by militant Chimera groups to join or die. Naturally they choose to join.
-The Quebec ice sheet is claimed as part of Leninland. Nobody lives there, nor wants to, so the land falls into Leninland’s hands easily.
-Education is given more funding, especially in the field of military education. A number of universities are transformed into military academies.
-Mining is funded, as is ship building. The fleet is supplemented with more ships.

Königsberg
Vlad
Government: Representative Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Experimental aircraft are being built for military use. Tanks are also being produced for testing.
-Military expenditures increase astronomically as experimental weapons all across the board are invested into.
-The Swiss, trying to keep from disclosing how they know so much about Königsberg’s budget while still submitting their complaints, are voicing concerns about these increasingly militaristic developments.
-The gold standard is removed in favor of printed bills. Naturally, economists are up in a fuss about it, and investments are down for the time being, resulting in stagnation.
-Coal, iron, and other minerals are subsidized, boosting industrial growth.
-The cost of electrical appliances plummets as electric grids become more common with government funding.
-For reasons they are not willing to disclose, the national government is scraping together as much fissile elements as possible.
-After a brilliant meteor shower was sighted over northern England, mysterious strangers appeared in the local cities demanding that the authority of Charlie Brooker’s Reich be reinstated over “the isles” of Britain.

NERV
Fridge Logic
Government: “Democratic” Military Despotism
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-Trade is declared closed specifically to Otak and Aeriya. Trade routes are established with Vietnam, SingSong, ANZAC, and Pacifica.
-The border with Otak is locked down, and any Otaku attempting to enter Japan are shot on sight. Those found already within NERV territories are deported.
-Formosa and the surrounding region is invaded and captured. Better climate means more food possibilities, and the region’s farmers are encouraged to produce rice for NERV.
-Industry is subsidized, and mechanized manufacturing is greatly encouraged by NERV. Oil drilling begins in several regions.

Cattonia
madcat
Government: Democratic Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Basic
Tech: Imperial Age
-Trade is established with the North Africans.
-Incentives, such as exclusion from the draft, are offered to those who trade in enough old currency for new currency. Economic stagnation is lessening gradually as more people cooperate with the change.
-Public education receives funding.
-A spiffy new library is established in the capital, cataloging all of the nation’s great knowledge.

United Pacifica
Serious Business
Government: Elective Chiefdom
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age
-Diplomatically or militarily, expansion is made to all corners of the Pacific Ocean.
-Trade is established with SLAVE and La Plata. Tourism is highly encouraged, and made cheaper via government subsidies.
-Visitors from ANZAC are increasingly electing not to return from their tourist adventures.

Sagarmatha
Brucker
Government: Anarcho-Communist People’s Republic
Military: Average
Economy: Average
Tech: Imperial Age ==> Industrial Age
-The border with Aeriya is fortified – an easy task considering the few mountain passes available to travel through – and foreigners entering the country are searched for money. Aeriyan currency is barred from entering the country. Immigrants are encouraged to spend the money in Iran before moving to Sagarmatha.
-Alternative energy sources are scoffed at for being inefficient and too far ahead of the times.
-Railway projects are stymied by a lack of central government organization. Without construction standards and enforced inter-city cooperation, progress is slow.
-Fleet construction is readily underway.
-The Bengali city rapidly grows, and is exporting food and rare materials en-masse to the rest of Sagarmatha. Plants, animals, and pharmaceutical samples for medical research are imported from SingSong, a nation notorious for medical development.

As for your other question, every nation in the world maintains a stockpile of money from each nation they trade with. This is an IRL thing. A lot of establishments, especially banks, keep physical currency from various nations on hand for use in international trade. Your nation shouldn’t be any different, and shouldn’t have any problem trading with other countries as long as that country is not also anarchist.

I’d rather not divulge just how much is going on behind the scenes, but I am keeping track of a few things, including your railway.

Sorry if your questions were already answered by the time of this post.
I missed your earlier post somehow.

I know it’s an IRL thing, but I’m living in a fantasy world based on certain personal ideological philosophies. We have no banks, no money, and dislike the concept of personal possessions.

Positives? As “property is theft”, we should essentially have no theft in Sagarmatha (although I’m sure there are other sorts of crime possible) nor poverty as everyone has essentially an identical standard of living. The only thing that some citizens may have more of than others is knowledge, but this is generally shared freely on request.

Negatives? There is inevitable culture shock in dealing with non-communal societies, but this is protected by the banning of currency within our borders. (The Himalayas are cold, and paper money burns nice and warm.) Possible difficulty in trade with outsiders would be due to the fact that while Sagarmathans understand that objects have value than can be traded for other items of similar value, it would be hard to understand alien concepts like market fluctuation and price determination.
