There was a 4chan macro with this equation stating God doesn't exist. But the logic of this equation is wrong, ill give more details in abit.
If you know basic Algebra, then when you first look at this you'd think its all right, no errors here, but how can 2=1?
Ill write my notes in (here)
(First off in most equations you should never have 2 unsolved variables)
a = x
a+a = a+x
{true because a=x)
2a = a+x
(just simplified the left side)
2a-2x = a+x-2x
(added a subtraction to both sides, so it still counts)
2(a-x) = a+x-2x
(simplified the left side, kept the right side the same)
2(a-x) = a-x
(simplified the right side)
2 = 1
(divided both sides by a-x leaves 2 = 1)
But where is the error?
The error is right here
2(a-x) = a-x
but a=a and x=x so no matter what, whatever you do a-x will always = 0.
i.e (a = 5)
if a = 5 then the top equation
a = x means a = 5, x = 5
so if we where to do
a-x like in the equation we will get 0.
so Always a-x will = 0. So the new problem will be below:
2(a-x) = a-x
Will be
2(0) = 0
This is true
2(0) = 0
0 = 0
makes the next problem
0/0 = 0/0
which is quite clearly 0 = 0.
