Guy Fawkes

I noticed recently that the Guy Fawkes mask, as used by Anonymous, does not have an entry. I propose we make one. There should be enough material on Fawkes, V for Vendetta, controversy surrounding its use, and its appearance in other media for a decent-length entry, and I don’t think anyone can deny that it is a meme. Is anyone interested in pitching in?

Alright, so far I have 6 karma and one epic fail guy. But anyone interested in helping out?

Sorry, don’t know much.

But I’ll see if my post gathers any interest in this thread, at least…

Why wouldn’t you just put it under the “anonymous” article.

Because it’s not just Anonymous using it. Do you remember the pic of those members of the Polish Parliament using a printout of the mask to protest ACTA? hey aren’t using the image to identify with Anon – they’re using it as a symbol of dissent. Furthermore, just look at all the people who wear those masks at Occupy protests. Again, I doubt that many of them go to 4Chan, or the Anonymous IRC, or take part in DDOS attacks, but they’re still wearing the mask. The symbol has evolved (as memes tend to do) beyond its original confines. Thus, it should get a separate page.
