brb?

Does this qualify as a meme? I've looked all over KYM and can't find any reference to it.
for example.. a picture of JFK with "Brb, Dallas"
or Princess Diana with "Brb, paparazzi"

any thoughts?

I dunno. BRB is so broadly used that it might be too much of a common part of speech (textually anyway) to try to make connections or track viral spread; not to mention we would likely have to dedicate a page to LOL, WTF, and any other common abbreviation.

In regards to this, "lolwut?" was added to the database, and "I dunno, lol," has become a widespread phrase due to its correlation with the "shot web" meme. So, lol isn't a meme, though lol is a big part of these memes. Similarly, the meme keewa is describing doesn't consist solely of brb. The coupling of brb with an image of someone who most certainly WILL NOT BRB could be memetic. Pics like Captain Blubber's couldn't be for the reasons you stated, but putting brb on an image of someone famous prior to death like keewa mentioned might be. It'd take more than just his two examples, though.

@jackal, tl;dr

but i'm going to assume you made a good point so right on!

brb x is essentially a pic of someone deceased with the caption "brb wherever I was last"

i'd make an entry on it but I'd just get yelled at for not doing enough research.

My statement was only six sentences? If that was too long for you just to read, I can only imagine what would be too long for you to write!:P

Even if you do your research, you have to go in depth with your explanation of the meme. Have you put ALL of the information you've found into your entries? This is pretty much a meme encyclopedia, so paraphrasing isn't good for entries.

Nice pic, though. You've got the right idea!

"Actually yeah, this is a definite meme. Go ahead and make an entry.
What should it be called? “Ironic BRB”?"

..I think maybe something like

brb x

would be good maybe?

It seems like you can't simply add "brb" as a meme. Unless you also
just go down the list of the most commonly used abbreviations on the
internets and all of those memes
as well. It would perhaps need for sure some sort of qualifier or
descriptive object with it. Because "brb" alone isn't a meme; it's
one of many other abbreviations initially used in chat, along with
more than 9000 others such as "afk"… When referencing cute pics
of cats talking funny, we don't just call it "lol"… it's lolcats.
It has to have that specification somehow – does this many any sense
at all? Tell me if you see what I did there.

And I LOVED the brb-kutner up there! Made my day, I like the House.
http://house.wikia.com/wiki/Lawrence_Kutner <--if you don't get the pic,
but I think because of the "brb" on the pic, you obviously can figure
out his current status of being as indicated by the brb. :)

Also let's not forget the classic moot "brb, soup"!!1
