I thought it was from Team Fortress 2, some times the Heavy yells out “SAMMWICH!” Instead of “Sandvich”.

The first time I heard someone say “sammich” was from my sister’s friend, a guy we all called Chuckles. I was a sixth grader, Chuckles was a high school freshman so it was 1996. Chuckles was known for always using the strangest, obscure slang terms. He really wasn’t into the internet, and I was just getting started with AOL on my 28.8k modem. Back then, I wasn’t really familiar with any kind of “internet slang” aside from 733t h4x0r and some early fone phreaking terms.

Sorry that that doesn’t help to prove anything. It’s just my recollection of having heard the term IRL about 13 years ago. Anybody else?

When did you first hear the word sammich?
