Need help writing "The RubberFruit Effect"

I want to make an article about this, and so far heres what I got:

“The RubberFruit Effect is a phenomenon in which the comments section of a YouTube video will suddenly become infested with references to another medium the topic of the aforementioned video was about. The effect is named after GMod/SFM user RubberFruit, whose fans often go to YouTube videos displaying a video game soundtrack only to spam the comment s section with Rubberfruit references if said soundtrack was used in a Rubberfruit video.”

Any advice or extra information to make this better (particularly in wording the definition in a more understandable way)?

I feel that this would be more appropriate in Meme Research, but I know full well what you’re talking about.

The music to the Sonic 3 bonus stage is where I’ve encountered this. All I can really say is that there is backlash.

In Soldier enters a strange place he asked fans to stop spamming references on music videos.
Then he stopped linking music.
