It's some badly-drawn original character a young DeviantArt user created that must have gotten posted in a "worst pieces on dA" thread and seems to have become /a/'s pet meme for a brief period of time. Many derivatives were created, often as if in an attempt to "improve" on the original idea work. Some anime screencaps 'shopped to match Darks's hair color. There were multiple attempts to give Darks an opposite number, usually called "Lights".
I can't seem to find the original DeviantArt post, though.
I first saw him in a /cm/ thread dedicated to him.
