Youtube has just started a new closed-captioning service, making readable an approximation of the spoken words in their videos, and hilarity ensues.

As this spreads, some gem of mistranslation will appear and go epidemic. I predict screenshots and many forwarded videos.

Oh, yes. I’ve started watching my videos with closed-captions (whenever available). It was suggested on a video comment, so i tried it out.

It was like drunk engrish on a Caturday.

These are hilarious.

One of the latests videos of Vlogbrothers starts with Hank Green reading a section of the closed-captioning service on a previous video from John Green. The video also features images taken from that video with the weird auto captions.
This has a lot of potential for derivatives.

Indeed. I predict that by the end of this year, this might have enough . . . stuff to be considered a meme.

EDIT: I’m pretty sure there’s a word filter in place too, because at one point the guy says “screw it” and the closed captions read as “discourage”. So unless it’s just really that bad…
