Yeah its a meme.

^But that means that it's dead now.

The Family Guy Effect is a myth. When something appears on Family Guy, it causes a resurgence in the meme's growth. The perception that Family Guy kills a meme is based on how some view it as "going mainstream."

But the Maxell ad WAS mainstream from the start. I'm pretty sure other TV shows were spoofing that ad when it was current.

I've seen skits done by SNL and Mad tv over that commercial. I'll see if I can dig up the videos from somewhere.

Maybe I jumped a little bit ahead on this one.
