I'm thinking an entry about this would be worthy, but perhaps not as family friendly as the site would like. Still, it's not nearly as bad as some of the shock sites that have received entries, and if we can talk about "my new haircut" than we can probably talk about this:

Oh yeah, I was looking into this one.

It was hugely hugely viral.

But I really couldn't find anything interesting about it (like not much response from internet users).

It just seemed to be a passing story.

(note: when I was looking at this the story was only out for about a day- so maybe I judged too quickly…)

I was researching this one too, but I haven't found any derivatives. You might want to give it some time in case it grows.

Does a meme actually need derivatives to be a meme?

A meme is simply an idea after all.

Yes, but as pretty much anything viral on the internet could be called a 'meme' we've had to change the definition to fit the site more, with spread and derivatives, not just one big thing becoming a viral hit, unless, that is, it is really old and from before youtube and more modern websites, where a viral hit was a huge deal.

Well, it could be a meme if there were retaliations, people making fun or defending here through pics or videos.
