Really quickly.
Like the rest of the site, the forums use textile code.
For images you put the images URL in between two exclamation marks.
For example !http://i.imgur.com/89ahFaQ.png! will become:
Tah dah! like magic.
For videos, most video hosting sites provide an embed code on the video page. For example just go to share on a youtube channel and it will provide an embed code.

Which becomes this:
