I've uploaded a couple of pics in various different galleries, posted a couple of comments, but still, I'm unsure if what I should do to be a 'good' person on this website. Please help me out.

There's no real definition as to a good KYM member, just do things that you're comfortable with, i.e:
If you find images that aren't on KYM, post them here with their source (tag them as well)
Knowing your textile can help you when you're on the forums (whether it be for link posting on Meme Research or obnoxious autoplay on your profile) or just to spruce up your comment/entry. Here's a textile guide
If you're making an entry, go to Meme Research and post your topic on the entry and ask for help for things that you don't know, such as origin, spread, etc.
And just have fun while on KYM! Spam Blubber's wall! Go to the forums, look at forum games, discussions and take part! Or don't, if that's not your thing.

Laika's Top 10 Tips for Being a Good KYM Member:
1. Have anime/MLP avatar
2. Say words like "unironic"
3. Talk about dicks
4. Say you love the moderators in every post you make
5. Be massively arrogant when someone posts on your wall
6. Self-hate
7. Passively hate KYM itself and make this known, it never gets old
8. Act like some weird internet whore, the kids love it.
9. Make hilarious 4Chan-esque threads that are, in reality, total shit (but that doesn't matter)
and the most important
10. Be completely inoffensive, neutral and liberal.

11. Join IRC and join with them on picking on random comments and laugh at how bad they are and how superior you are because you use a forum for posts.
12. Everything has to be sarcastic or ironic

For one, don't be afraid of Riff Raff or the chat for that matter. They will be assholes and they will be sarcastic and judgemental. Don't let it bother you too much though. A huge majority of it doesn't really mean anything. Many good users are driven away from these places because of the intense sarcasm and passiv aggressiveness and the gossip, etc. For the comments, try not to go with bandwagons because it can be pretty hard to avoid sometimes, especially with GG and the Tumblr hate. Try to step away from the comments (and the forums as well) with a critical mind-set and form your own opinions on the subject. Try not to let karma sway your opinions. Buried comments aren't always bad because dozens of people say they are.

Like people have said above, know how the site works including textile and stuff. You don't have to, but feel free to contribute with images and editing. Be open with suggestions in this area and you'll be a-ok. Also, tag images always. Can't stress this enough. Finally, make sure you go to multiple areas of the site and don't stay isolated in one area since it can lead to echo chambers and also a lack of stuff to do on the site. Have fun!

P.S. Oh yeah, above you can already see the sarcasm and drama even though it's not supposed to be in this area of the forums. Learn to sort it from the real stuff.

@Laika

Well yeah, I'm just saying how not to be an ass, even if you don't fit it.

1. actively contribute to the site, but try to not to over doit or treat it like a competition, that means uploading images, helping in entries etc etc.

2.know how the site works and how to get around, try to befriend people who already know this as it would be easier.

3. simply be careful, the community here can sometimes be a little too aggresive or abbrasive, comments and such, simply report all behaviour that breaks rules instead of encouragin it or simply be a bystander.

4. pay attention to what you are uploading where you are uploading it, spoiler and nsfw whenever neccesary, try to tag all of your images and simply know if the content is correct to the entry.

4. visit the chat, and sometimes the forums like i know we normally talk about retarded shit, but we are willing to help out and maybe you can learn a stuff or two.

5. ignore riff raff and the IRC constant snark and assholerish, its never made with a serious intent or harm, simply dont be afraid of them.

so yeah as you can see le ebin riff raff troll squad has already paid a visit, just ignore them, its probably the best advice.
